@Pirouette: medela has 8 oz bottles too. I've found them cheap before at Target and winners! I always use the 8 0z for morning pump!

@autumnlove: Yes because I have a Medela pump. However, I don't have enough Medela bottles (I send 4 to daycare with DS) so I pour what I pump from the Medela bottles into my Ameda bottles for storage during the work day.

@Pirouette: Sorry for threadjacking!!!! :(

@autumnlove: I use ameda bottles as storage bottles, but not for feeding either. So every night I have to transfer the milk from the ameda bottles to my medela bottles. Not hard, but just dumb and time consuming bc i have to swirl the milk for awhile to get all the fatty bits off the sides of the bottle before transferring. So if I can save this step, it'd be awesome! Guess I'll continue my swirl and transfer process then. haha

@autumnlove: oooh do they go right onto the medela pump? or do i need to get an adaptor? i totally spilled about an ounce this morning switching the bottles, so i could use a better solution (my dry cleaning bill is going to be exponential this month!)

@JoJoGirl: yea, this makes sense. she seems to eat less at her morning feed, especially if she's still a little sleepy. I'm glad to know it's not unusual to get so little for the rest of the day :)

@Mrs. Taco: yay, glad to hear it's normal! She doesn't seem to be completely emptying me in the am recently now that I think about it. She sleeps 7-10 hours and then does a shorter feed when she wakes up because she's usually pretty sleepy still.

I only pump 3 times a day now (total, I EP)...but when I was pumping 3 times a day at work, that was exactly how my output was. Totally normal. Most likely your LO isn't emptying you in the AM (especially if they STTN), so you'll have a lot more!

@Pirouette: Yes! I always have more in the morning. I pump twice at work (10:30 and 2). During my morning session I usually get around 7-8 oz and during my afternoon session I only get about 4-5. My LO eats 10 oz while I'm at work. I think your output sounds great! The rule of thumb for BF babies is that he/she should eat 1-1.5 oz per hour that you're away.

Is there a huge discrepancy between your first pump and the second/third? I've been back at work 2 days now and my output has been as follows, with the last nursing 8-8:30am:

Day 1: 10:30: 13.5oz, 1:15pm: 3oz, 4:15: 2oz
Day 2: 10:30: 12oz, 1:30: 3oz, 4:30: 2.5oz

Is this normal? Should I have so much more in the am? If anything, my LO eats more as the day progresses...do I need to pump longer in the afternoon? I don't know what's normal, and we really don't know how much she'll be eating while I'm gone yet..

Did you have a huge difference between morning and afternoon? Did you do anything to increase output in the afternoon?
