@petitenoisette: I was pumping three times a day at work. So then I went down to twice a day, then once a day, and then I was done.

@regberadaisy: Aw I'm sorry you had to quit before you were ready; I would have done the same though if I wasn't producing much anymore! Regarding acting weird, I just wondered if anyone else got comments about pumping past a year. Not about pumping in general. I'm a teacher so work with tons of women and many who have pumped but the impression I've gotten is that many people find it much more challenging than I do and I don't know anyone who's done it past a year! But I'm really not stressed about what other people think

@junebugsmama: Yea I personally do not think it is weird at all. In a way I think it's weirder to automatically switch to WCM at age one; like ok I'm done producing the milk, I shall now outsource it to another animal :silly: (I do not really think that is weird either way!)

My son is 14 months and I am still pumping at work. I know what you mean about wondering if people think it's weird. I am pretty sure no one else pumped past a year and I work with a ton of moms. No one has ever said anything about it so I try not to even think it's weird. I definitely don't think it's weird to nurse still so who cares! For me, my hours make it a little trickier I quit pumping since I work the evening shift. I am pretty sure bedtime is the last nursing session for many people and I always miss that when I work. Pumping itself doesn't bother me other than feeling lazy.

I think you should keep pumping until you are truly over it! You don't sound like you want to day wean, so wait till you are ready :)

1) pumped till 13 months with my first. I was sad because I wasn't ready. I was getting less than an ounce at each session. With #2 I stopped around 14 months? I was over it! It took a while because I wasn't as dried up , as I was with my first.

2) with both I still nursed when we were together at first. But then slowly dropped to morning and bedtime only as they drank more
Milk.

3) act weird about what? I wasn't the first to pump at my work so it was NBD to them.

@psw27: I feel you on having my body back!
@Adira: How often were you pumping when you started to cut back?
@bushelandapeck: Yea I definitely could not care less what other people think! I think it's mainly just people assume that now that she's a year that I will wean her entirely, but I have no plans to do so. My daughter doesn't drink anything else yet either (besides water), so I don't foresee stopping pumping either anytime soon!

1) DD is 16.5 mos and I just stopped pumping at work last week because she won't drink anything beside BM and water. If she doesn't eat before I leave for work in the AM, I will still plan to pump at work.

2) I tried to cut pumping but noticed my supply dropped so I started pumping at work again.

3) I share an office with another pumping mom and we often pump together! I don't really care if someone thinks it's weird. She won't drink anything else so I sort of feel like I need to until she's ready to stop.

1) I started day weaning right at one, so I only pumped for maybe 3-4 more weeks.

2) I day weaned - I cut out a pump session and a bottle/nursing session each week. We continued to nurse morning/night after I was fully done pumping.

3) Most people didn't really know I was still doing it. I would've felt weird though continuing for much longer... we're allowed the break time to pump for the first year only.

1. I think I finally quit around 14 months. We were exclusively pumping at that point, LO weaned himself at 9 or 10 months because he was too distracted and wild.
2. I finally quit because I had a good freezer stash, my supply was dipping due to stress and I was ready to quit. I wanted my body back!
3. No one at work cared, or probably paid attention really.

1) How long did you end up pumping for (or how many months now if you're still pumping!)?
2) When/why/how did you pump wean? Did you keep nursing at home or wean altogether?
3) Did people start to act weird about it?

1) DD just turned one and I'm currently pumping
I had sort of thought I'd day wean now but my daughter is MSPI so I can't introduce cows milk/plus as a teacher it seems easier to just pump for the rest of the school year and day wean over the summer. Also I only pump twice a day/sometimes once and so it's not terrible.
2) haven't yet obviously but it would be nice to get this time at work back! And my schedule rotates which makes pumping more annoying and I can't conceivably cut down to just one pump a every day (idk what that'd do to my supply anyway).
3) I seriously DO NOT care, and I've been pretty open at work about pumping, but I'm definitely getting the sense that people think it's a bit weird/unnecessary that I'm still doing it.

ETA: I didn't go back to work until my daughter was 6 months so I definitely credit that with pumping being relatively easy so far for me!
