When we have people over I just hide the bin under the sink. But it works for us. We fit a normal regular size trash bag into each side. So a paper bag would not fit. Each side is quarter moon shaped. When the recyclable side is full, I'll take the bag and dump the contents in the recycle bin. I'll then save that bag to line the trash can side when that gets emptied. I looked at the simply human one but didn't like the smaller recycle bin. I know I wanted something that would hold enough trash and recyclables and this is what I ended up with. We fit it at the end of our island so it's the perfect size where it doesn't stick out. It would be nice for it to be a little bit bigger. For reference, you could fit a gallon size milk container in either side. We usually barely fill a standard sized kitchen bag each week and want to avoid switching to something smaller. And what do you line the recycling side with? There's three plastic bins back there since our dump only recycles paper, cardboard, and plastics. I hate throwing away glass bottles but they don't take them! I wish our area would do that without you having to ask 10,000 times. We have two recycle bins that we keep in the kitchen, and once they are full I move them to the bin in the garage. It's pretty dinky though and most weeks it doesn't hold all of our recycling.
