I'm in the "gross" club too, lol--I don't keep milk in the fridge longer than 4 days, and wash the part about every 4 days as well as long as they're staying in the fridge continuously (ie, when I'm only wah; if I pump on campus, and have to carry parts to and from, I wash them, even if I'm keeping them in the cooler bag with my milk). LO is 12.5 months and has never had an issue.

I also used to pump at work every day, keep the parts in the fridge, and bring them home to wash on the weekends with the same thought process as @jetsa. I did use the wipes to wipe them once a day so that helped too. This also helped reduce the amount of time I would forget to bring my parts with me!

I do it during the work day after 1st pump at 10am and last use is 4pm. I think they're as good as how long milk can stay in the fridge for!

@Adira: yep me too.

I brought my pump parts home every weekend to wash (I WOH 4 days a week). The reasoning that I heard and made sense to me was that breastmilk is good in the fridge for 3-8 days so why would refrigerated parts be any different. I had no issues and pumped until my son was a year, I'll be doing the same with little miss

Guess I'm the gross one of the group... I have a set that gets used once a day. I rinse after using and refrigerate and only wash them once a week. The set I use multiple times a day gets washed twice a week.

I didn't pump that often- only once a day occasionally to build a small stash. So I would pump in the morning, put in fridge, pump the next morning around the same time and wash then. So t would be almost exactly 24 hours but wouldn't be in and out of the fridge.

Once a day. I figure they come out many times and get warmed up throughout the day, so it's not really the same as a bottle of milk in the fridge, which stays cold the whole time.

I only reuse refrigerated parts once. I'll use clean parts for a morning pump, refrigerate it, then use it for the afternoon pump. Then come home and wash it. Once in a while I would use it overnight (i.e. pump before bed, refrigerate, reuse parts in the morning). I think it's possible to go longer or keep reusing refrigerated parts, but I felt paranoid about food safety and the multiple temperature changes.
