We have separate accounts and divide what we pay for. Mainly because we got married in our 30's and saw no reason to change the accounts we already had. He pays mortgage, utilities, cable/internet, his commute costs and his lunches. I pay LOs daycare, my student loans, my Texas mortgage, my commute costs, and our groceries. He makes big purchases like appliances, cars, trips, etc. Well, we have a joint account too, but we use it mainly for transferring money to each other.
