I called all the appointments 'doctor appointments' though. </p> <p>I had trouble asking my boss for time off for my doula "appointments" at first because I thought that sounded strange. I see both the OB and midwife with my practice so it depends. My midwives are in the hospital, though, so it's not really that different, they way I imagine it would be if they were at an independent birthing center or I was planning a home birth, which is what I feel like people would picture if they weren't knowledgeable about MWs. </p>
