We did CIO at 4.5 months. LO didn't cry for longer than 25 minutes at a time the first night though it did happen on and off until 3am. The next night she cried once, and by the third night she slept through! I think Weissbluth says babies shouldn't cry for longer than 2 hours. Good luck!

After our initial sleep training, we did have a few setbacks when he got a little cold and when we went on vacation. Once we knew he was well again and back in his own environment, we would do CIO again. It never took longer than 10-15 minutes of crying, one night! Good luck!

How many times did you have to sleep train? LO is in the middle of a ww/sick/teething.. God knows what, and the past couple of nights he's been waking up crying hysterically so I'd go in and rock him. Sometimes he falls back asleep right away, other times its taken 2 hours. Tonight he started crying hard as I was rocking him. I'm thinking he was overtired and just couldn't fall asleep. I think if I let him CIO in the beginning he would've been asleep by then! Anyway I finally gave him some milk and put him down to CIO. He cried for maybe 15 mins and is now sleeping. Anyone ever have to retrain sleep habits? I always regret trying to sooth him but mommy brain/heart hates to hear the crying!! Ahhhhh!!
