We sleep trained at 4 months for going to sleep and dropping all MOTN feeding at the same time and it worked well. Our pediatrician told us he didn't need to eat in the MOTN anymore and to just use the same technique if he woke as we did at bedtime. (We did checks at 5, 10, 15 min then CIO if still crying)

Slept thru on the 3rd night and has been ever since.

We sleep trained for falling asleep at 3 months. At that point he would have 1-2 wakeups. He went through the 4 month sleep regression which changed things to 2-3 wakeups. He moved that first wakeup from 1-2am to 10-11pm.

We knew he wasn't hungry but at his 4 month checkup he hadn't gained much and was falling off the curve so we didn't want to try night weaning at that point. But at his 6 month checkup (1 week ago) he was back up in weight and we set out to drop the 10-11 wakeup where he would eat a lot but really could go longer based on past experience. We used CIO and he dropped it in 2 days. He's gone the full night once but generally wakes after 9-10 hours to eat. I'm not planning to work on dropping that feeding at this point.

We sleep trained for falling asleep on her own at 4 months and again at 6 months. We also tried to reduce wake-ups but not completely night wean at 6 months but we weren't very successful. Then at about 7.5-8 months we CIO'd the whole night. By then she was not really nursing at night. She would latch on and fall asleep without really drinking anything. It was easier than I expected and after about a week she was STTN 7:30-5:30, and then back down (usually in bed with us).

We are doing CIO AGAIN though since we traveled & she learned to stand up in her crib. Sigh.

we did pretty much what @hilsy85 did. Sleep trained around 6.5 months. 1-2 wake ups to nurse after we sleep trained. Around 9 months she was consistently nursing once a night. Then around a 11 months/12months she started STTN on her own, for the most part. I was just too lazy to force it, and feeding her was just easier.

We sleep trained for going to sleep AND for getting down to 1 wakeup (from 2-4) at 6.5 months. We kept 1 wakeup (that sometimes turned into 2 wakeups) until he self night weaned at 13.5 months, and started STTN on his own. We could have night weaned before that, but it just seemed like soo much effort in the MOTN when nursing was easier, and I was ok with 1 wakeup for a while.

C cut all but one of her MOTN feedings herself. At 6 months, I could tell she wasn't truly hungry (and she was eating plenty during the day) during that feeding anymore, so we weaned her and sleep trained for that last one. It honestly went pretty smoothly. We did use CIO.

If I had thought she was still hungry and needing that feeding, I would have continued to feed her.

Okay, so we sleep trained LO at 4 months to go to sleep by himself, and he did beautifully after only 20 minutes of crying (as opposed to 2 hours in my arms). He is 6 months now and still wakes up once a night to eat somewhere between 1 and 4. He has slept through the night twice. My question is, for those who sleep trained for the beginning of the night, did you also sleep train for the middle of the night, and if so when. Or did LO just start sleeping through on their own. Or did you just gradually wean. I was thinking 9 months but my friend says 6 months. We haven't had our 6 month appointment yet (he is happy and at a healthy weight though), but I imagine my doctor would say that MOTN wakeups are still common at this age and to hold off on CIO. I am just trying to get a sense of how common it is to go the CIO route for MOTN wakings. I really, really should have read a book on sleep during pregnancy.
