I was 3 cm at my doctor's appt at 3:00 pm.

My water broke randomly at 4:50 pm that same day. Fully dilated by 8 pm., but they let me get an epi and labor down for awhile, she was born at 9:27 pm.

I was 0cm at my 39 week appt. My water broke 5 days later on my due date and had him 24hrs later, unmedicated, with the help of Pitocin because I was not having contractions. Once I started having contractions it was about 6 hrs.

I was 3cm a few days before my water broke. When I arrived at the hospital, I was already at 7 and hadn't yet had a single contraction. If I hadn't had an epidural, I probably would have progressed VERY quickly to 10.

I declined a check at 38 weeks, and I went into labor 6 days later.
I checked myself (tmi?) twoish days before, and I was around 2-3cm. My labor was 7 hours start to finish.

I was a "loose" 2-3 the Friday before I delivered (I delivered on a Wednesday). I was in early labor for around 18 hours (regular but not too painful contractions, took a long time to get closer together/more painful, didn't progress any) and active labor for another 12-13 hours. 31ish hours all together.

I was 2cm and 80% effaced at 38w. Went into labor that evening, but my labor was still around 20 hours. I had an epidural followed by pitocin, though.

I was 0cm with DD1 and went into labor 2 days later. It took 20 hours.

I was around 2 cm for 4 weeks with DD2. Once I started to feel contractions, it was 6 hours from start to finish.

I went to the hospital at around the 4th hour of contractions. I didn't want to go too soon, but I felt the urge to push and my doula was a little concerned. We both thought it was still a little early though, since I was still engaging in normal conversation in between contractions... But, we got there and when they checked, I was 9.5cm! I pushed twice and she was out.

I don't think you could go to the hospital too, too early, especially for your second baby. I guess it depends how far you are from the hospital. I lived very close, so we figured if it was too early, we could just go back home (what happened with #1 actually, but obviously not for #2).

I was checked at the dr. the day before I went into labor. I was about 1.5 -2 cm and I started contractions the next morning. Was fully dilated by around 5pm and had her by 7:30.

With my first I didn't really have any progress besides being effaced before going into labor. With this one I haven't had any regular contractions and am 3 cm. The OB said it could still be awhile but I'm just wondering if things will go faster this time once labor starts or if progress before labor doesn't really mean anything about speed of labor.

It took me about 36 hours with #1 so I feel no rush to go to the hospital once contractions start but then again I don't want to wait too long.
