I was so afraid of being an ambulance or side of the road story too. My water broke at 38+6 and I delivered at 39 weeks after 18 hours of labor and 1.5 hours of pushing. She was my first though, and I've heard 2nd babies come out faster. With DD I had no dilation until my water broke at 39 weeks 1 day. Was started immediately on picotin and labor was only 12 hours from water breaking to baby. Now with #2 and at my 36 week appointment I was 3 cm, 80% effaced and -1 station so who knows how this labor will pan out! So...it wasn't much quicker. I know I went into my induction and I was only 3 cm. </p> <p>Right now I'm 37 weeks and 1 cm, 50%. With my first, I was barely dilated to a 1 by 39 weeks. With my second, I was 2 cm at 37 weeks, 3 cm at 39 weeks, and 4-5 cm when I was admitted to L&amp;D at 39w4d.
