I don't feel guilty. He's said many times that he has the easier job, plus chipping in at home = QT for him and LO. Feel better soon!

I don't feel guilty. My job is to take care of our daughter, which I do. Some days my LO doesn't allow me to get much else done around the house, so my DH has to chip in when he gets home from work. I know he's tired, but it's not like I've just been sitting around all day...it's those days that I am usually tired, too. Of course, I get as much done during the day as I can...because it makes for a more enjoyable evening!

All. The. Time. In fact, I came down with food poisoning when they were 13 weeks and he had to go it alone for almost 24 hours.
I didn't actually feel as bad about that, but I do feel guilty when I ask him to help with things around the house that I *know* I could have done during the day, (ya know, instead of being on HB!). And I feel badly that he's the one to do all the pacifier wake-up calls, which start around 4:15am. On the other hand, I'm the one who goes it alone with the babies for 11 hours each day. That's worth something!
I hope you feel better SOON! Don't worry about asking for a little help when you need it!

I hate to ask him to do anything...but ds is in school and I have tons of time to myself. He works his butt off at work. Even these past 2 weeks, I've had a hard time asking for help with things, even though I've been recuperating and he's been home.

nope. we have twins, so he's had to majorly help from day 1. he still gets up once or twice a night with them. he knows the kids are crazy some days and i just can't get anything done. but days that they are good, i try to compensate and be extra productive during the day so we can both just relax in the evening instead of doing so many chores.

you said that you wouldn't go help him at his job, but if he were sick, he'd get to stay home and rest and get better, right? you deserve that too! he'll survive, trust me :)

Nope, I don't feel guilty at all. I've been sick all weekend, so DH has been taking care of everything around the house. I still wasn't feeling great this morning, so I asked him if he would work from home today so I could rest. I don't feel guilty at all asking him to stay home because I'm sick. The kids are his job, too, and if their primary care (me) is unable to care for them, it's just as much his responsibility to figure out the arrangements for the day. Plus he knows how much work it is to care for the kids and the house all day, so I know he understands that I can't do that if I'm sick.

Do you ever feel guilty about asking your SO to chip in?

I think I've come down with a stomach bug, and I am miserable. Dan gets off work at 1:30, and he'll take over Sadie duty tonight so I can rest. I know that we're a team, and he definitely doesn't mind, but I feel so guilty. He's had to work at his stressful job all day (he goes in at 4:30am) and now he will have to take care of Sadie mostly by himself all night. I've just been in bed all day. I guess I shouldn't feel bad, but I do!

I usually feel guilty asking him to contribute to housework too! He never complains, but I feel like its my job since I'm at home. He doesn't ask me to help him at his job.

If your SO works out of the house and you stay home, do you ever feel guilty for needing help at home?
