it's a mix of both-- we co-sleep and right now she's the only child. Hubby gets up at 4am, sometimes if I wake up when he does from his alarm I'll get up to chat with him before he leaves and then spend some extremely lazy time reading before she wakes up around 7- if I'm still tired I'll climb back in bed until she wakes me up!

Yes I am an early riser and am always the first one up. On weekends I'm up at 630/7 and DD (and DH) get woken up at 8:30/9. I love my couple of hours of alone time. I play on my iPad, read a book and drink my coffee in silence.

The last 6 months or so of SAH I did. But she doesn't wake until 8 generally. I'd get up at 715 or so and eat breakfast and read for a bit before she woke, definitely a better start to my day than being "on" first thing.

Right now she has school during the week and I wake up 30 minutes to an hour before she has to be up for school. I get ready and dressed and then I go wake her up at 7:00 (we need to be walking out the door by 7:55). Weekends I sleep in until she wakes up - usually 8:00/8:30

Hell no. The fact that she sleeps till 8-9-ish makes me very happy. Plus she's so much nicer as an alarm. She wakes up so happy!

Also, if I got up first I think I'd be upset if she woke up early and cut into my alone time. Planning to be up together avoids that.

No way! LO2 comes in our bed around 4 am and if we're lucky I can get him back to sleep until 6. DH gets up with him at 6:30 and LO1 usually climbs in bed with me soon after and will snuggle until around 7. I am not a morning person and gladly let DH take charge in the morning!

I don't SAH but I'm going to answer this question because I have big feelings on the matter! E is a very light sleeper and wakes even with the quietest alarm on my phone - so I cant engineer this. On the rare occasions I wake naturally before her - and before DH's loud alarm goes off - I feel so much better than usual because there's nothing worse than waking up to immediate demands - "have milk?", "watch television?", "go downstairs?" Aaaaagh!

On the days I work, I am up maybe 15 minutes earlier. I dress as quickly and as quietly as I can and try to slip out the door while DH and DS snooze. On the days I don't work, I try to sleep as much as I can. We get DS around 730am most days. He usually wakes up between 645am and 715am but just hangs out with his stuffed animals until DH gets him.

I should as they don't usually get up until 8:30 or 9:00, but I like my sleep too much so I don't. DD1 will happily play in her room until whatever time, so I don't worry about when she wakes up, but once I hear DD2 start chatting to herself in her cot, I get up and shower before getting the girls up properly.

On the odd morning I am up before them, I do love having a coffee on my own, but it seems as though they either hear me or instinctively know I'm up and they get up earlier those mornings too. So I've pretty much given up on that idea and enjoy my sleep instead! :-)

They do. DD1 wakes between 545 and 7. I never know if I'll be able to beat her or not and I'd rather have her "force" me awake than Starr my day disappointed that I didn't get my "alone" time. My perfect time to wake up is 7. That's like the magic hour for me so if DD slept later, I'd totally get up first.

In theory, I'd love to. In practice, I get up between 6-630 most days, but probably 25% of the time, LO2 starts making noise while I'm still in bed. The days when she sleeps til 630-7 and I have an extra 30-45 minutes alone are glorious. But not glorious enough to set my alarm in the 5s ;)
