Sigh. It makes so much sense to skip buying a second one! Rereading everyone's logical responses now :)

We're moving the glider to the baby's room and purchasing a comfy chair for story time instead for our toddler (preferably used, going to checkout some secondhand stores on Tuesday!)

We're not there yet, but even now (DS is still in crib) it's half/half we read on his rug or the chair. So we'll likely keep the glider we have in the nursery and move DS' reading spot to his big boy bed when he transitions and/or just read on his rug!

I wouldn't buy a second glider. I would probably move it to the 2nd child's room. The other possibility is to move it to a neutral location. Our glider lives in our bedroom now. We all come into our bedroom to do stories w/ DD before she goes to bed. Presumably, whenever we have a second child, both of them will do stories with us in our bedroom.

I moved the glider into LO 2's room and I bought a new Ikea chair for LO 1's room.

We moved the glider from LO 1's room to LO 2's nursery a few months before 2 arrived. We just read stories on her rug now.

@scg00387: mine are 22 months apart. DD was already in a twin bed before baby was born but she loves to rock and read, sit in it by herself, etc. We bought an upholstered rocker/glider for baby's room and also use it every day. We bought it thinking that at some point it could possibly be used somewhere else in the house.

We're going to get another glider. The one we have now isn't that great but we still use it everyday. We'll get a new upgrade for #2 and eventually get rid of the one is lo1's room

We've never had to replace a glider for that reason. The baby always stayed in our room until about 3 months (and by three months I mean 6!) and by that point the older child always seemed interested in a big kid bed. Once the big kid bed was achieved, we just read in bed with the kid (this has happened with DD and DS#1).

Mine will be 15 months apart and I just broke down yesterday (due in 4 days) and ordered another glider for LO2. DS loves the glider in his room soooo much for nap time and bedtime stories, and I'm worried enough about jealousy issues etc, that I couldn't bear to move it from his room. I'm too soft haha.

Ours will be the same age difference! We are moving glider to LO2 room. She won't be sleeping in there nights for awhile anyway, so if LO1 still wants to read a book in little sister's room we can do that.

Eta: we are leaving LO1 in her crib as long as we can! Once she's eventually in a big girl bed we will read in/on bed.

@BabyBoecksMom: that's what I'm afraid of- that we'll buy a second glider and then not use it once he moves to a big boy bed.... BUT I am not trying to speed that up. I don't want to mess with his sleep until I absolutely have to, haha!

We kept the same chair but moved it to the new nursery. We used to use the rocker to read books to DD1 every night but once we got her a big girl bed, we usually read book to LO1 on her bed or in her little chair.

We adore our glider. We sit in it before every nap and nighttime to read, LO sits in it by himself. LO #2 is coming in spring and I'm trying to figure out should I...

1. keep glider #1 with kid #1 and buy a different one for kid #2
2. buy kid#1 a bigger chair and move glider #1 to nursery#2
3. figure that kid#1 will want to read in bed once he is in a twin (not sure of when this will happen) and just transition him before kid#2 arrives, leaving kid#1 with no glider and kid#2 with old glider.

thoughts?? other suggestions?
