We were supplementing with pumped milk, but what we did was supplement every other feed, made sure weight gain stayed consistent, then backed off to supplementing every third feed, same check, then just supplemented when it seemed like she hadn't had a good feed. From there it very quickly tapered off to zero supplementing.

My LO self-weaned from formula (and bottles all-together -- a real pain in the butt), but her method would have been how I would have done it: gradually taking less per feeding, and decreasing the number of daily supplemented feedings. It took about 3 weeks to go from several bottles a day to zero.

We gradually gave him less and less formula a day (over one month's time) rather than going cold turkey. I figured gradual would help me gradually increase my supply while not being a total shock to baby.

Did you wean baby off the formula or just quit cold turkey? DH is afraid to do either because he is afraid shell just scream from being so hungry or that she'll start to loose weight (she's already had weight loss issues).
