Same, Rubbermaid containers all labeled with season/size. We have a shelf in the basement where they all go on. And now that we aren't sure if we are having a third, I've been getting rid of the smaller stuff and only keeping the things I really love since they will be 4-5 years old by the time #3 would come along.

The older sizes (4t and 4-5) my oldest daughter is rough on so honestly as she's gotten bigger I've just donated/trashed most of it since it's not in a good enough condition for me to save for DD2. I

I store off season stuff in Rubbermaid bins. They use to go on the basement but now I'm keeping them in the bottom of the girls closet. My three are so close in age and size that after putting things away I'm digging then out again in a few months.

@peaches1038: I got large last time...I had a HUGE tote (45 gallon) from Target and filled the bags super full. I could fit 2 of the large bags in one tote. I might get medium bags this time...there was still space in the tote that I filled with shoes, small toys, etc. I think 3 medium bags per tote would make better use of my space.

If your tote is lass than 45 gallon I'd go with medium unless someone else can give us better insight!

Rubbermaid containers. It took about two days to organize two kids clothes. I give my youngest's outgrown clothes to a family friend. I even took pics of one of their closets because I was so happy with my achievement. I also broke my big toe tripping over some of the clothes. Good times.

I have tall rubbermaid ish pull out drawer units plus bins too. I don't label; I just have an idea of where I put stuff haha. Our clothes are constantly coming in and out so to me there is no point to organize it THAT well. Basically after DD1, clothes go to my friend's daughter that's about a year younger. Then her clothes come back to me for DD2. And after DD2 most will go out again to another friend due soon.

i store them in rubbermaid type bins too. we have 3 kids (2 boys, 1 girl), so I have one big bin for boy clothes, and one big bin for girl clothes. i only keep the clothes that I am sure I will want in the future, so I definitely give away a fair portion before storing. When the tote gets too full I dig in and give a bunch away again. It's worked so far because as the kids get older their clothes are mostly so used up that I wouldn't want to keep them anyway, except for a few special items :). I also have one tote of shoes to keep, but I should really go through them...

we've been lucky and received a LOT of hand me downs through the years that cycle through our group of friends, so I don't have to keep much, because I've purchased so little in total.

I noticed that when I took the clothes out, they somehow looked worse than what I remembered....I was saving them in case we had a second, but we didn't....so I was thinking i had a ton of stuff to donate to my brother, but it looked much shabbier after a few years. I don't know why, lol.

I used those zipper plastic bags that you buy sheets and blankets in, you know the ones that have the whole set, and you are like what can I use that zipper bag for? They're square-ish and hold their shape. i would write what was in there on a piece of paper and I could see the contents without having to open them.

We stored all of DD1's clothes in big Rubbermaid tubs or under bed boxes, but we will only have a 3 year gap between the girls (and DD1 still fits in a lot of smaller size clothes) so it didn't amount to too much. We will donate or sell most clothing after DD2 outgrows it, so hopefully we never have to store too much.

I have at least 5 tubs, per child! Probably more... :meh: After this one I will probably be able to sort down some more but since we are TG it'll have to stay at least until the next few months. It's getting to a ridiculous point how many tubs I have, even with me sorting out stuff I didn't want when I packed it away.

Same, rubbermaid containers. But we didn't think we were going to have a third so I don't have all the sizes (or even most.)

If it's coming down to not enough space you might want to go and see if there are stains or anything wrong with any of them, and then take out things that might be more trendy, things that aren't in the best shape, things that you just don't love. I know for us we'll still buy/receive a few pieces no matter how much we save, so I have a lot easier time donating. I keep things like Boden/Tea/Hanna/etc.
