We use Enfamil. We used to supplement then I lost my supply and we're EFF. I looked at the ingredients of Enfamil for supplementing, and they were actually different and I didn't like it as much. The first ingredient for regular Enfamil is non-fat milk. The first two for the supplementing one are corn syrup solids and partially hydrolyzed nonfat milk and whey protein concentrate solids.

We used Gerber good start gentle when I had to supplement with my first. With my second we've given that to him twice and seems good so far. I suspect when I go back to work in a few weeks he will need it more because I'm pretty sure my supply sucks.

@Vegmama: Yes, I read the ingredient lists on all the major formulas, and that was the one I felt most comfortable with. I didn't know that was the reason they labeled it "Toddler Only"!

@Mrs. High Heels: Us too! Our LC and ped recommended Baby's Only Organic. It's free of a lot of yucky stuff that some formulas contain. It says it's toddler formula, but it's because "breast is best" before 1. That part hurts my feelings, but my baby is far and happy! ;)

@daniellemybelle: Thanks <3 I had to supplement with DD1 from about 3 weeks to 7 months (then I EP'd and got an oversupply - go figure), so I figured I would have to supplement with DD2 as well. So far (3 months) I just started needing to supplement and she only needs one bottle of formula a day, so I'm pretty proud of that.

@Kemma: After a rough rough weekend of refusing to nurse, our LC had us take a nursing break on monday and try again yesterday intermittently with bottle feeding. I nursed her 4 times, 2 she did great (better than before clipping), 1 was about the same as prior to the clipping, and 1 was pretty bad. So I think there is some improvement but it is just slow going. It also seems like she does the best if she's very awake and hungry but not SUPER hungry. If she's tired or super hungry she has a harder time.

Sooo I don't know if there's any difference between what you'd use for supplementing and just regular formula feeding but we had issues with Similac Sensitive, which we used in the very beginning with pumped breast milk, and they were solved by Gerber Good Start Gentle. Similac Sensitive was frothy and just did not sit well in lo's tummy. I've kind of looked into the Supplementation one just because I saw it in the store, and it definitely seemed like a marketing thing.

Similac for Supplementation is definitely just a marketing tactic. We started with Similac Sensitive but it is actually just lactose free and very few babies really have lactose intolerance/sensitivity so we switched to Similac Total Comfort which breaks down the actual dairy proteins. I was a Total Comfort apologist for a long time because I felt like it resolved her terrible gas, though looking back I think it just coincided with when she started to outgrow her colic.

Right now we are feeding her Enfamil Soy (Prosobee) because she had bad diarrhea & couldn't tolerate milk-based formula, and we've had a hard time going back. The Prosobee is just what samples our pediatrician gave us. I am not thrilled about having to use soy but if we try to switch again & it doesn't go well, I might put her on Earth's Best organic soy.

By the way, we had to supplement from day 5, I never was able to EBF & my LO is 8 months old now & loves to nurse, so you can totally do both if that's what you want <3
