I would wait one more night.

On another note, have you considered owning an otoscope? We have one around and it's pretty easy to see if there is an ear infection so you know before you take LO in. Not saying to avoid medical care or anything, it just helps with trying to rule out causes for fevers, fussiness, and all that fun stuff. :)

And if you've been Rx'd Ciprodex before but are out I would check with your pharmacy bc you may have a refill. It's usually written with at least 1 refill.

If your Lo doesn't have an ear infection, the drops won't hurt.

I wouldn't go to ER, I would start Ciprodex drops if you have them (we had enough ear infections that we just keep a coupke of bottles on hand) and I would administer tylenol as needed.

We've had a mis-diagnosed ear infection at urgent care. It was really roseola, and she even said "the left one is bad, but the right one is awful." When I took him in for the rash two days later, the ped said "stop giving him antibiotics, he never had an ear infection." So now I don't take him to urgent care for ear infections (I might if there was a children's urgent care, but there isn't in my area). I definitely wouldn't do the ER.

I would give Tylenol and wait until you can see the doctor. My DS had the start of an ear infection a few weeks ago. Since it was a Friday, I took him to the ped since the office is closed all weekend and I hate having to go to the hospital because of the language barrier. The ped suggested a pain reliever twice a day along with some nasal spray and gave me an rx for antibiotics if it wasn't better in 3-4 days. He ended up being fine with just a few days of the pain reliever.

Since our insurance (that is typically amazing) just refused an ER visit when LO was 3 months old and dehydrated from the flu I would probably look for an urgent care or wait.

I would wait until Monday provided the fever stays low. I agree with @lawbee11: about exposure in the ER to worse illnesses. For us the ER is truly just a last resort for an actual emergency because of that very reason!

I would call the ped but prob not do the er. Do you have a walgreens with the ready clinic thing? Maybe they could look?

Poor baby. And poor mama. That's no fun at all.

I would not go to the ER for an ear infection. You risk her being exposed to something way more serious. We've taken M to urgent care for an ear infection when her fever was over 103, but for low grade I'd probably wait to see the ped. Hope she feels better!

Definitely wouldn't do an ER visit, but that's just me. Other than antibiotics, there's nothing they could really do for her except tell you to give tylenol/motrin for fever and pain.

I would call ped answering service first and see what they suggest. They might be able to call something in for you without seeing someone.

I don't think an ear infection warrants an ER visit, but that may just be my opinion. I would call the dr today though if it's a consideration.

... would you wait to make an appt on Monday or go to the ER? C got off antibiotics for a double ear infection last week but the low grade fever and waking every 30 min makes me suspect it's back. My choices are to wait it out one more night/day or take her to the ER and pay the $200 copay.
