I decided not to. The downside was that we had to give up on breastfeeding for good, but I was worried about some of the side effects. Domperidone is not FDA approved in the US, although hearing all of the positive stories from people on this site make me think that maybe I should have taken it anyways. (It was recommended by my LC, and you can have it made up at a compounding pharmacy.) The other drug that was recommended by my OB had a side effect of depression, and I decided not to go with that, given a family history of depression. I'm glad I made that decision, since I ended up with a whopping case of PPD anyways. I can't remember the name of that drug, but do check out the side effects for sure...

4 oz all day or in one pump? 4 oz in one pump isn't a bad number. You only need 1 1/2 - 2 oz per hour your away from your lo.

@highwire: Did you get the prescription from a LC, your OB, or the Pediatrician?

I'd like to look into getting a prescription myself.

My doctor offered this option at y 6 week pp appointment but he said a side effect was sleepiness. Last thing I needed as a new mom! Now that DS is sleep well at night, im considering calling their office and seeing if this option is still on the table. I've exclusively nursed the past two weeks since I've been home on break and love only breastmilk for DS. I'll still pump at work but only get about 4 oz total and I've been taking fenugreek for 2 months now. What's your experience been with taking a prescription? This is also coming from someone who hesitates to take any kind of medication!
