I think it is hard to say whether it's the medication working or just anxiety getting better. Definitely things get better after the early days but there are many stressful points along the way. I took Zoloft for an entire year so when I stopped, it was very easy, and i was on thr lowest dose possible. I kept missing doses and not noticing so I talked with my OB and she agreed. Definitely wait to hear back from your OB and consult a therapist. Good to hear that you're feeling good, though!

When I weaned off lexapro I did it very slowly with my doctor's guidance. I did well with it but I had also moved on from the stressor in my life (planning my wedding). I would definitely not stop cold turkey, and I wouldn't stop until you have a therapist in place and have a few appointments so they have a baseline of healthy you and can recognize if you need to get back on the meds at any point.

I've been taking it for almost five months and have a few more to go.

Eta I'm on lexapro not Zoloft though, of that makes a difference.

I second @APRK about going off Zoloft. I went on it when my dad was terminally ill and now I'm going off it because we are TTC. Even tapering down with a doctor's guidance is awful. I would find a therapist or MD to talk to before making any decisions.

I would definitely not stop taking the meds without supervision. Warning yourself from Zoloft can be tough, I've heard. I was put on Zoloft at 24 weeks for panic attacks and plan to take it at least through 3/4 months post partum.

Good luck!

how long did you take it?

(Background, this is my first time taking anti-depressants. Have had a lot of success with talk therapy throughout my adult life. My mom had severe PPD so I'm extra cautious)

My Zoloft Rx is running out. Not sure if I should continue taking it or start weaning off of it. I feel mostly okay, but I'm not sure if that is because my depression/anxiety has subsided or if the medicine is just doing its job.

I've been trying to find a new therapist but have not had much luck do to timing/insurance/therapist not accepting new patients/etc. Maybe I should make sure one is in place before I stop the medication?

I also contacted OB and asked him these same questions...
