@ElbieKay: I actually didn't get the matching seat. A lot of my mommy friends talked me out of it. I have a city mini and I really don't use it very often either.

@junebugmama: I would assume you would get a stroller that is compatible with the infant seat.

@PEAPIE: I am still expecting but I plan to use the stroller / infant seat approach. I will probably bring my carrier as well so we have two options. In your situation, I would probably bring a stroller and a carrier so I would have the same flexibility minus the convenience of clicking the baby out of car seat base directly into the stroller without dealing with two sets of straps.

@PEAPIE: Ha! They really are wonderful. DS2 would get pretty heavy and hurt my back after a while so our stroller helped so much!

I had an infant seat and by 3 weeks, I wasn't carrying it anyways. I found it to be a real inconvenience. Baby wearing was much easier and I never really found it to be annoying. The only times I was annoyed is when I would take in the seat, to the grocery store for instance, then he would cry and I would be carrying him anyway, and the grocery cart would be filled with a car seat. We switched over then.

We used a convertible with DS2 from the beginning. I always wore him for about the first 3 months then we finally bought a stroller that reclined enough and he rode in it when we were going to be out for long periods of time.

We're seriously considering the Maxi-Cosi Pria 70 with tiny-fit. I like the idea of just buying one seat and it has a good rear facing limit (40lbs. I think that's pretty good, right?).

But then I got to thinking, what do you do with the baby when you get to where you're going. Obviously, I could wear baby... But I'm nervous about lack of other options. Is that silly? I guess everyone I know has had a car seat to tote in and out of restaurants, while visiting at people's houses etc...

How did you make it work?
