We don't use one, DS always sticks to corners too, but if he gets uncomfortable he shifts/moves himself :)

@mrs. jacks: mentioned that the risks of injury/strangulation w bumpers far surpasses the risks of injury due to arms/limbs getting caught in between the bars.

We don't have any bumpers - DD burrows in the corner to fall asleep, so her head is always against the wood, but it doesn't seem to bother her... :/
When she was younger and learning how to move around in her crib, she got her leg stuck twice, but nothing since then

we still use a padded bumper at 11 months, but my LO is a crazy woman in her crib and likes to lunge face first into the bumper and throw herself down, so I am nervous about her hurting her head!

Not worth it. We used a padded bumper from the start, but took it off once she started crawling and pulling up around 8 months.

@shopaholic: does she wear a sleep sack? it helps keep their feet in. but, my LO loves to sleep with his head smooshed against the slats so no bumper advice here :)

If you did end up wanting to get something (I was torn when LO was banging his head on the crib bars a lot), I ended up getting Miracle Bumpers - they're vertical padded bumpers that wrap around each bar, so they can't pull them down, and there are no strings (they zip onto the bars, and the zipper is at the bottom below the mattress). They're really great.

I wouldn't bother...LO bangs his head on his crib ALL.THE.TIME. and barely notices--I think cribs tend to have some give to them so it's a bit springier than just banging your head on a piece of wood or a wall or something.

@shopaholic: Darn. We slid/wedged a portion of it down between the mattress and the crib slats, and also weaved it in between the slats. He even steps on it now, and it bounces right back.

@shopaholic: We picked ours up at BRU - it's 2 breathable pieces that attach with velcro and also has 2 points that attach with ties. I removed the ties when he first attacked it, and it's held up since with the velcro alone.

@shopaholic: Yeah, the strings freak me out. I wish ours had velcro closures. But I ended up getting a PBK bumper with the pretty strings as a baby shower gift so that's what I used. Maybe you can find one with the velcro?

@MsLipGloss: Yes! She thinks it's always "peek-a-boo" time!

@creativemomma15: @shinymama: Hmm... maybe I'll try without a bumper tonight. She just wedges herself in the corner, so I hate thinking her head is just pushed against the wood.

@banana: The chewing on the strings and possibly choking scares me. That's when I removed the mesh one when she ripped it off and was chewing on one.

We used one for a while but she kept pulling it down and would chew on the strings. So we removed it a month ago. Didn't notice any difference. She still sticks her legs through the slats. What is it with babies and legs through slats? Sometimes she wakes up with both her legs in the crib slats and starts crying cause she's stuck. UGH.

My LO pulled on his breathable bumper also, but we kept it on his crib. He's a crazy sleeper so we needed it to keep him from getting stuck in between the slats, and he eventually lost interest in pulling on it.

Newp. If your LO pulls down the breathable bumper, she'll just pull down the padded bumper too. I was worried about my LO thrashing around (she sleeps all over the place!), but she has done fine without the padded bumper. (I took it out when she started to pull down on it so that she could watch for me to come through the door : / )

If you used a padded bumper, how long did you use it for? K has mastered pulling down the mesh bumper. She's also ripped it of some of the ties (I found her chewing on one of the broken ties!)

She's rolling all over and loves to stick her feet through the slats, so I'm scared of her hitting her head and twisting her legs. Thinking of buying a padded bumper, but they're kind of expensive! I have a cheap, thrifted one I'm using in the meantime, but it doesn't match and kind of gives me a headache looking at it.

She is 7.5 months. So, tell me is it worth it to buy a padded bumper at this point?
