I hate the Medela one, it feels really flimsy to me and like I need super glue to get it to stay on. I know it's supposed to promote more touch between baby and breast but it just won't stay on as well as the Ameda, which I prefer.

We used Medela. The best advice I got was to use one with the nose cut out, and to remember that you have to size it to baby's mouth, not the size of your nipple. So, I used XL pumping flanges but a S nipple shield when she was tiny!

We are nine months into nursing and still using the medela shields. We were never able to wean off, but I never had any supply or mastitis issues (well, not since she was a week old.) I credit the shields for us being able to nurse at all...apparently I have REALLY flat nipples!

I used three Medela shields. Two were circle shaped but different sizes. The third had part of the circle cut out where baby's nose goes. I didn't have a preference.

I used the shields for 3 weeks this pregnancy. The pediatrician and LC I see recommend weekly weigh-ins if you use a shield. I did feel that I didn't transfer as much milk while using the shield and I was battling a lot of clogs (but that could have been from initial engorgement). The real PITA part was that my toddler kept stealing my shields so they were never clean and where I could find them.

I've used both Medlea and Tommy Tippy. Like others above said I liked that it made latching easier and helped with the pain. But it is hard to keep up with cleaning them etc. For sure have a few on hand. I used the shields with both kids. The first one we weaned around 3-4 months and kept bfing until 8 months. I'm only 2 weeks into baby number 2. We have latched a couple of times without it.

Used a Medela one for a couple of weeks w ds1. Just came home w ds2 and they gave me the same ones at the hospital this time. It's working well so far 2/3 days in and ds has latched without it a couple of times too. It's annoying to have to hold down the flappy part sometimes but I remember using a different brand w ds1 too and the Medela is the one he liked.

I used medela ones for a few weeks but then got mastitis because it was preventing him from completely emptying me. So weaned off of them. They were a life saver in the short term though.

Medela as well. We are almost at month 4... It's getting to be such a pain! I feel like she doesn't get much because milk seems to dribble out of it now. (Does anyone else have this problem??) I do recommend the brand though :)

I also used the Medela brand...I did try a couple of other brands but didn't like them as well. I had a love-hate relationship with shield in general though. On the one hand, I am not sure I would have been able to BF at all without it (had flat nipples and she wasn't able to latch well). But I do think it impacted my supply and, as a result, led to DD refusing to nurse at around 4 months when she was having a hard time gaining weight and the peds wanted us to supplement. It was so much easier for her to eat with a bottle that she was done with the breast. I ended up exclusively pumping after that. I wish I had tried harder to wean off of it earlier.

Medela. It worked well for the first three months! Then we shield weaned and it went pretty we'll.

We used Medela ones until she was about 4 months old. I had tried and tried to wean her from them because they were a pain to keep handy and clean but she just wouldn't latch without it. Then finally one day I was nursing her in the car, she ripped it off herself, latched on, and never used it again. It was the weirdest thing. As much as it was a pain I'm so thankful for the shield because I really believe that without it I wouldn't have been able to have a successful nursing relationship. We ended up meeting all of our goals nursing until 15 months and never using formula at all.

I used the Medela ones. We weaned off the shield around 4/5 months. We are still nursing at 17 months with no signs of stopping. ;)

I have a medela. They said we should be able to get off of it by the time she's term, but we'll see. It doesn't really bother me, so if she needs it longer I'll just need to buy more of them.

I used a medela for 5 months with my daughter. They worked great and I never had any problems except for how annoying they were to remember to pack in the diaper bag!

I used the Medela (sp) kind. They worked fine and never affected supply or latch. They were just a pain to make sure to have around and really hurt my confidence with BFing. We weaned off them around 6 months.
