My LO catnapped a ton and eventually I had to give up on EASY because otherwise she was eating every 1-1.5. She'd get mad because she didn't want to eat yet. So, I started doing a EASYASY routine instead, which sort of worked. Then I had to nurse sometimes before bed because she wasn't hungry when she woke, but was hungry by the end of the A time. So I stopped worrying about the EASY routine somewhere around 4 months. At 5.5 months, she started longer naps and for some naps she nurses before and for some she nurses after. Sometimes it's before and after.

we did EASY without fail until she moved to 1 nap at 12.5 months. then i BF her before and after and then transitioned to just after when i went to BFing morning and bedtime only.

for me, it was a way of knowing where we were in our day. i didn't care about the amount of hours between the feedings, but i knew when she woke up, she got fed and then we could continue on as i knew she was fed and happy!

Subscribing because I've been really curious and almost posted a similar question today. DD is 10 weeks and we've done EASY loosely for the past month or so, but she catnaps all day for 45 mins so she eats A LOT. Like every 1.5 hours plus I nurse her to sleep for naps somewhere in there, too. I'd like her to get on a schedule that's a bit more spread out.

We gave up on easy fairly early. It just didn't work out when some of her naps were twenty min and others were two hours (okay the two hour ones were usually nurse naps!). She now eats every 2.5 hours or so, but i think it was more often at 12 weeks. Btw catnaps are super annoying, but I think it's pretty normal at that age. Most babies begin to consolidate naps around 5-6 months.

We had a similar experience but I attribute that to DS going through a catnap phase more than the EASY routine not working... I did a loose EASY whenever I could, but kind of went back to spur of the moment feeding around his sporadic cat naps, etc. for a few weeks until his 3 nap routine solidified.

I kind of gave up on EASY once Xander's feeding routine became more firm. So once he started eating every 3 hours and his naps didn't align, I just stopped doing EASY. I continued to feed him every 3 hours (or after a nap, depending on how that worked out) and he would just nap whenever he napped. He was always such a catnapper and would often take 3-4 naps a day that were only 30-45 minutes long!

I had the same issue starting around 3 months, and it is still ongoing. I would love to have him taking longer naps but have no idea how. So frustrating to do the whole nap routine for a thirty minute nap. My pediatrician says that they can't be up for longer than 2 hours still at this stage so I am not sure if less frequent naps would work. Sorry no advice. Good luck!

I'm curious to hear what some of your experiences have been like as your LO's got a little older as it affects the length of/number of naps they take.

My LO is almost 12 weeks and we got a consistent EASY routine down probably about 3 or 4 weeks ago. He started sleeping better at night where now he sleeps from 9-3am usually then back down until 6 - 6:30 which is when he wants to get up for the day.

His daytime naps have becomes shorter though, usually just a half hour or 45 min. With a feeding schedule of every 3 hours, i'm wondering if he's beginning to outgrow the frequency of those naps and it would be better to aim for fewer naps that hopefully will be longer but he still wants to eat every 3 hours (we're EBF).

Anyone else have a similar experience? How did you guys adjust?
