I'm able to work when it's just my 3-year old home/awake, but not when the 16 month old is around. The older one is great at independent, imaginative play, and will sit through a movie with hardly blinking an eye. So I can sit at my laptop and work while she's around. However, the younger one is extremely demanding and needs me 24/7 it seems. I get all my work in when my huband is home and on his days off. We are getting a nanny next month for this very reason!

I want to do this again so much! DS keeps asking me to stay home, but I can't do it consistently unless I convince my boss I can get the work done.

And I can't :bummed: My job can be a pressure cooker some days, lots of calls and everyone expects a response right away. I worked at home a lot before DS turned one, and it was tough to keep up, but now it's impossible! The kid doesn't nap. I can't even make up the time most nights because I have no energy, between being pregnant and getting sick from him. Definitely not looking at any help anytime soon.

Guess I'll try to do it a couple of days a week and make up the time in the other three...

I could never work with my toddler home. I had to work when he was napping or sleeping.

My mom watches DS. Sometimes at her house, sometimes at ours. If I have a lot of conference calls, then he's usually at her house. Otherwise, I usually work at night for lost day time hours due to toddler distractions. I could not work at home, without someone else to watch DS.

I absolutely cannot get any work done with my 18-month old at home. She needs a lot of attention and always wants to play with the computer, push the buttons, or tries to take the phone.

I can only do it in spurts. I don't WAH full time, but sometimes my circumstances force me to. I can WAH from 5:00-7:00am. I can do maybe half an hour during the day while she watches tv. I can do 2 hours while she naps. It's not very productive and it's an emergency only sort of situation for us. If i'm around, E wants to play with me and doesn't understand why, when I say no, or mommy can't, or whatever. She'll literally grab me and go "come on, mommy, come on".

I work from home a lot. I have a full time nanny. But as my son gets older, I am finding it harder and harder to do so even with the help. He is now 14 months and wants to play every time he sees me wander past him. He is hard to resist!

I work full-time, at home about half the time but LO is in full-time preschool. Not sure how I could get any work done if I was trying to actually parent at the same time. Maybe if it was a different line of work - I have a lot of conference calls, have to respond to emails quickly, etc.

I used to have a nanny and it was possible to go in a different room and work while she played with him.

I've been WAH since my first LO was an infant. With a young toddler, it isn't possible. They just need too much attention. Once my son turned 3, I could leave him in front of a video for an hour or so, but that's really it.

My husband usually works on the weekend so he is with the kids on Mon and Tues or he leaves for work after he puts them down for naps. The LOs go to preschool/daycare on Wed-Fri.

I am on the phone a lot for work and I'm required to have childcare for my FT WAH privileges...even though my boss hasn't cked in 3 years.

I work at home, but it's only about 10 hours per week. Mostly evenings and weekends (it's project work, so I write on my own time and coworkers know I'm rarely available for calls during typical 8 am - 5 pm hours). I hired a babysitter to come once a week for 2 hours just so I can have at least one block of time during the week that I can talk/email/write during the day. So I guess I think it depends on your help/childcare situation. With one toddler? Maybe doable by yourself, but not on a consistent, reliable schedule. More than 1 kiddo? (Mine are 25 months and 3 months). Get thee a sitter/nanny for some help!
