I rarely pumped with my first. I never pumped with my second and came to regret it when my supply dropped and she refused bottles of formula. At first my mom watched her and I would usually go work from a coffee shop so I could concentrate. I would come back and nurse her after about 5-6 hours. When she started daycare, she would go 9-3 and I would nurse her in the parking lot at 3pm. I very rarely pumped when we were away from each other, but we also supplemented so I was fine sending formula. To me it was not worth the lost time and effort to pump. When I was working FT as a teacher, I pumped a lot more but never had much of a stash because I had to dip into it most of the time to have enough for bottles. I needed a small freezer stash for a few times that I was going to be away for a while (like when I went to a wedding, bachelorette party, etc) and then a bottle here and there when I was going to be away for a few hours. Since I was almost always with her and preferred nursing to pumping and bottle feeding, I really didn't need a lot but still felt like I needed a decent stash in the freezer! I pumped every night before bed whether DS nursed or took a bottle. I rarely missed nursing sessions until he was older - like 8 months - and then would just pump if I missed a session. I stopped night pumping at like 10 months....and at 12 months I still have like 7 frozen bags. I had a frozen stash before work started and have been pumping in the morning (ds nurses one side, i pump the other)... but I just haven't had a chance to really cycle through the stash so in the last couple days I'm slowly starting to stop my morning pump session. I think I will just pump when I need to if I miss a nursing session. Adding to the frozen stash daily seems like a waste for our routine at this point... I have I think over 450 oz or so that doesn't diminish much... Although, of course now I'm fearing that something bizarre will happen and I will need to keep pumping! :P
