24 hours from when my water broke to when he was born via c section. I think it would have been MUCH longer if I hadn't had a c section because my contractions slowed down and he couldn't handle contractions on pitocin. Although I did hit 6 cm dilated by the time I went into the OR so maybe if my contractions had been better he would have come sooner...

Just under 8 hours both times from active labor to babies out. I had no idea real labor was happening until things really got going- water breaking for #1 and #2 I got admitted to be induced and real contractions started right after.

I went into labor naturally (water broke and had some contractions) at 11pm on a Tuesday. I was instructed to come in around 5 the next morning, but my contractions had all but stopped at that point and wouldn't restart on their own. I was induced with an epidural around 10:30 am, and baby girl was born just after 3 PM...about 20 mins after they realized the trainee nurse never have me a catheter and my full bladder was preventing her from coming down, the birth canal.

So about 15 from when my water broke, maybe 5 hrs of serious contractions, and about 15 minutes or less of actual pushing once I had the catheter.

Well if we're going by when my water broke it would be like 28 hrs from water breaking to baby born. But my labor disnt start til almost 24 hours later. So from when contractions started til baby born was 7 hours.

@Mae: My mom was in labor with me 25 hours, so it's not genetics! I did exercise all through pregnancy, and my friend has a theory that keeping fit during pregnancy helps (no idea if this is true!). I also drank red raspberry leaf tea a bit in third trimester (much less than what is recommended) so no idea if that played a role. TMI alert- My periods are generally pretty long and heavy so perhaps my uterus is used to working hard?

Water broke at 8am Friday and she was delivered via c-section around 11:30 on Monday, so 75 hours?! Contractions started around 1pm on Friday, though, so I only had 70 hours of those to deal with. ;-p My experience is SO not the norm, so I don't even tell my expecting FTM friends until they've delivered.

Water broke at 10pm Tuesday. Contractions started at 2am Wednesday and were immediately hard. Got to the hospital at around 9 or 10am Wednesday. Labored until 7pm and finally got an epidural. Started pushing just after midnight on Thursday. He was born at 12:57am Thursday.

So, 27 from my water breaking, 23 from the first contraction.

@Mae: haha! well, for sure a short laboring mom. she had me within 14 min of arriving to the hospital. her dr induced her with my brother to avoid an accidental home birth! i tried everything in the book, and LO came on her due date. the only thing that MIGHT have helped was the evening primrose oil (I took vaginally and orally) and maybe the exercise ball? I lived on that thing the last month because I was in so much pain!

A little less than 7 hours from the time my water broke to DD's entrance into the world! Contractions started about an hour after my water broke, got fast and regular but not overly painful pretty quickly, then really intense for about 45 minutes, and then I pushed for 2 hours.
