I would do something mild and safe. A ham or a smoked turkey breast (Costco sells small boneless ones that are vacuum sealed and the turkey especially is really good!) Or a Costco roast chicken. Easy, safe. Green beans sauteed with butter with some toasted almonds. A rice pilaf from a box.

Or a soup, salad, and bread combination. A nice chicken and rice soup, hot bakery bread or rolls, and a bagged salad from the store.

My husband's grandmother is old school, so for dinner parties she likes a little appetizer, too. Shrimp cocktail, deviled eggs, some veggies and dip, etc. Easy things to buy pre-made and they can nosh with the babies while you finish up dinner prep. A little sliver of pie might be an easy dessert you can buy too.

last time I cooked for them I made them spaghetti which my grandma said I did a good job on

I would also say soup, like non spicy chicken tortilla or beef vegetable

and my grandma likes to say you always need a little sweet at the end of a meal so I'd make dessert :)

We do frozen lasagne from a local Italian deli because my in-laws are sensitive to salt and do not like my cooking so I don't waste my time. Add a salad and garlic bread I'm good to go.

My grandparents like to eat lite and healthy. I would do baked salmon with some roasted potatoes and mushrooms and some sort of veggies.

I just had my grandfather over recently and I wanted to play it safe. So I made pasta with meat sauce and served it with a caesar salad and garlic bread. We had cake for dessert.

A slow cooker recipe with chicken, carrots, maybe potatoes/celery - so the foods will be soft. There are a couple of them in my Better Homes & Gardens slow cooker cookbook at home. I'd serve rice with it if there are not a lot of potatoes in it.

My Nana loved a quiche with good bread and a soup. Soft comforting foods, and quiche can be made ahead of time or purchased, and the soup can be made in a crockpot, which is nice. I usually made her a spinach and tomato quiche with a vegetable soup.

Crockpot all the way. I would do a roast, carrots, and potatoes. Throw it in and let it cook away. My grandma and her significant other are both in great health and this would be a little "richer" than she lets them eat normally but it would be a special occasion. I would serve with salad, bread, and dessert.

I only have one left, if my other pair were still alive I would make lasagna, it was my grandpa's favorite and angel food cake with strawberries.

What would you serve?

DHs grandparents are coming tomorrow to meet both our girls. I'm stressed about what to cook for dinner because I feel as if elderly people have different tastes than what I usually make? I don't really know their food preferences. Any ideas? I've got a 3 week old and a rambunctious 2yo so it needs to be relatively easy to put together.
