She has no "official" power other than being a recognized person who can drive change. </p> <p>Michelle Obama has taken on childhood obesity through exercise and healthy eating programs. Barbara Bush was known for literacy, Lady Bird Johnson pushed for environmental causes like highway beautification. </p> <p>I think I would champion math/science education for girls. There is still a stigma that STEM (Science, technology, engineering, math) careers are more for men. Typically these are high paying jobs and I think if more women did them it would help to close the wage gap, but that starts with education for young girls - before they "give up" on math in early classes because they think it's hard or it's a boy subject. </p> <p>what would your cause be? </p>
