I wish I'd had the knowledge to do that straight out of high school instead of wasting time dropping out of college - those are easy certifications to get, and those jobs can pay decent money. They'd be great if you weren't trying to make a career out of it. There are so many that interest me, I don't know how I'd pick one. If I had the money to be a lifetime student and just get degrees for the fun of it, that's what I'd do for a career. Study. :) Midwifery, Cultural Anthropology, International Communication, Linguistics, Forensic Anthropology, English (creative writing), Equestrian Studies, Art History, Sociology, Islamic Studies... We have a great nursing school, with an accelerated second degree program for people who already have a bachelors in something else. We also have midwifery and occupational therapy. So he went to school to become an undertaker. Worked in Japan for a while where he got paid well (since there's a Japanese taboo about touching the dead). Just a random story regarding what kind of work suits certain people. I say education, only because it is the most appealing choice out of what my university offers. I qualify for free education as an employee so I want to hopefully take advantage of that. The options are business (probably the smart choice job-wise), education, or "organizational leadership." Only education appeals to me (like I would be excited to take the classes). Business bores me and the organizational leadership degree does not make any sense to me no matter how many times I read the description or the courses offered. Org. leadership is the program most employees are encouraged to go into so I think they use it to "groom" staff. The education masters has a reading specialist option, and I've always been really interested in literacy. And they made the IT people do graphics in their free time. They refused to pay anyone to make a website! I wonder if that is more common these days? I know I used to work as a secretary and did a lot of graphic design.....my boss knew I had the degree in tech comm so they hired me for both!
