I have an older brother and I love how protective he was of me. Also, I think that in general boys can be more rambunctious and daring. So I'd like to have a boy first so, as my first child, I could spend a lot of time in the beginning disciplining him and making sure that he is a calmer and well-behaved. I think girls are naturally (NOT ALL, just sometimes, in my experience!) a little more calmer/less daring than boys. So if I had a boy first, I could spend that early time with him. But my sister had a boy first and then a girl, and I've seen how my niece gets way more attention and coddling because not only is she a girl, she's the "baby". So then I thought it would be better to have the girl first, because I feel like girls probably get babied more, and if she's older then it'll even out. But THEN I thought that if we have a boy who's the youngest/a baby, DH's parents will probably baby him even more than they would baby a little girl, because that's just how they are with boys vs. girls. So honestly, I don't know...and I'm glad that decision will be taken out of my hands, lol. Generally boys tend to be more physical in their play, so I think it would be more of a chore to get an older brother to be gentle with his baby sister. The part that says girl is thinking about the adorable pink everything, and how cute the baby shower would be and the nursery, and just the general cuteness of it all. But I think that stems from knowing I'm having a boy and just because jealous of the cute. The part of me that wants a boy first is because an older brother will generally protect his little sister, and I wish I had that growing up. I am having a boy first though, so let's hope for a girl next!
