I was induced with #2 at 39 weeks 3 days. I was already 3-4cm dilated and 90% effaced though.

Got hooked up at 11am and DS was born at 3pm. 4 hours from start to finish. Went perfectly and neither of us had any complications.

@spaniellove: Can't believe you're already 38 weeks!! Hope everything goes well for you!

I was induced at 37+4, due to high BP. We went in on Weds afternoon, they inserted cervidil overnight but it didn't work so they gave me something else (can't remember its name) but it was a little pill I took every few hours. By 6 pm Thurs I was still only 1 cm. So we set my epidural and foley bulb insertion and pitocin for Friday morning at 6 am. Got my epi, bulbs were inserted and pitocin was begun and by noon I was 6 cm's. I delivered at 9:20 pm Friday night after 1 hour of pushing. The induction was long but successful. I wish we'd just gone straight to the pitocin!

@spaniellove: Sorry you are dealing with this! But I wanted to let you know that I had to be induced at 38 weeks due to gestational hypertension and it went really well. I was also barely dilated but we started the process with cervical ripening overnight and then pitocin in the morning. Baby girl was born vaginally about 12 hours later. They were actually surprised at how quickly things went. But I had also gone to acupuncture the day before to help with the induction and I really feel like that made a difference. I also think it was a great experience even though it was unexpected.
Wishing you all the best! :goodluck:

I was induced at 36w0d for pre-e and HELLP syndrome. Got Cytotec very early in the morning (along with my epidural - which was a "now or never" situation because my platelets were so low), started pitocin at about 9am, Dr. broke my water at 1pm, pushed for 45 minutes and delivered vaginally at 5:07pm. It was really a great birth experience even though it wasn't what I had imagined. No NICU time for LO and we were both home in a few days.

I hope that things are easy and uncomplicated for you your LO!

So sorry to hear about the hypertension, but hoping you have an easy and successful induction!

If baby isn't here yet, I will be induced Monday night too!!!! It has been great sharing much of our TTC journey, pregnancy, and now maybe LOs birth dates!!! Good luck!!! I am 1 cm dilated myself, so I am following to see what others say too.

I was induced at 39 weeks due to high BP, it was my choice. It did end in a C-section, she was sunny side up + very big, my doctor said it was would have ended that way no matter what.

I was induced due to gestational diabetes and advanced maternal age. My end result was a c-section, but I have zero regrets. I'm a bit of an outlier here though because delivery scared me immensely and a c-section always was more appealing. I tried for a normal delivery and fully trusted my doctor when the decision to complete a c-section was made.

No experience, but I think this means you have between now and Monday to do all you can to make it happen on your own. So check out those old wives tales, and maybe look for an acupuncturist to speed things along?

I was induced at 37w3d because of low amniotic fluid and it went great, despite not being dilated at all at first and lo still being high up. My labor was 36 hours but prob would have been shorter if I got the epidural sooner-- I was on pit for 12 hrs without it, and had only dilated to 3 (I wrote up my birth story on a different post...) once the epi was in though things progressed quickly (~5 hrs) and I only pushed for 40 minutes once I was finally dilated all the way.

I was induced at 38+4 for gestational diabetes. I was nowhere near ready - I wasn't dilated at all and it took me 4 days of induction to get to 2cm so they could break my water! Yet I still had a normal delivery! No C-section here!! Think of it this way - you're already half way to 2cm!

I was induced at 38w due to "gestational" hypertension (basically I think I always had hypertension, but never had it diagnosed until pregnancy-not sure though) which turned to pre-e, which was why I was induced. I was induced at 4pm on a Thursday (everything was 0-no dilation or effacing), and gave birth (edit: vaginally, no c-section) at 11:44am on Friday!

Induced at 38 w 2 d. Baby A (closest to cervix) was a vaginal delivery but they used a vacuum because she was stuck. Baby B was a c section because his heart rate plummeted. I don't think any of the issues were caused by the induction. However, my labor was really long - about 28 hours. I didn't progress much at all until I had my epidural. After that I dilated from 3-10 in four hours. I definitely think the long labor was because of the induction because my body just wasn't ready. FWIW, my csection recovery has been no big deal. So hopefully if you have to have a c section, it will go well for you too!

I was induced at 39 weeks with DD1 and it went great! I was barely 1 cm dilated. I checked in at 8am, was fully dilated by 12pm but baby was so high still I had to labor down until 4pm and pushed for 2 hours and she was here at 6pm. Going to be induced on June 9th for DD2 and I hope it goes just as smoothly! Goodluck!!!

I was induced at 37 weeks. DS quit growing in utero at 32 weeks and I was threatened with induction at 35 weeks. OB decided to wait till i was full term to proceed. I was 2cm dilated and 50% effaced at the time of induction.

induction went well!! Started off a lil scary due to heart decels and the threat of c-section. after the broke my water and restarted pitocin and found DS's comfy spot, we were golden. admitted at 7am, started pitocin around 8 but stopped due to decels, broke water and restarted pitocin at 11:30, delivered him at 6:19pm after 3 sets of pushes!

I was also induced at 39 weeks and it went great! started pitocin (and antibiotics since I tested positive for strep b) at 10:30am, vaginally delivered at 7:45pm! I was more than 3 cm dilated for weeks, though, and she was very low for a very long time.

...how did it go? 38 weeks today, OB thinks I have gestational hypertension and he would have sent me to be induced today but the nurses at the MFM didn't record yesterday's BP properly so he's going to wait until Monday and induce Monday night if it hasn't gone down.

As of a week ago I was only a fingertip dilated though he is low so I'm worried it'll end in a c-section! My other concern is that baby won't tolerate the induction because of his growth issues.
