@runsyellowlites - yes, I had an NST this week and have another scheduled for tomorrow, I also had an ultrasound earlier this week. Everything looked great - fluid, placenta, blood pressure, etc. The only concern is baby's size - was measuring 8 lb 5 oz on Monday, and I am only 5'2 and 125 lbs currently. I have a very small frame, so doctor was concerned about shoulders getting stuck behind my pelvic bones.

I went past my due date by 5 days. I wanted to hold out until atleast 42 weeks, but I had complications with high BP and extremely low fluid so I was induced and that led to a c-section

I went into labor labor naturally at 41+4 & had DD on 41+5. I actually had a nst scheduled for the day I went into labor, glad I didn't need it!

Have you had any nst or bpp done? If baby, fluids, & placenta still look good then there's no reason not to wait. :)

ETA: I've actually known moms that switched doctors pasted their due dates bc the on was pushing unnecessary inductions, and others that just didn't show for their induction. In the end you cannot be forced into any procedure regardless of what your doctor pressures you into. Your doctor works for you & doesn't "let you" do anything, you "let" them. ;)

Thanks for all the replies! I really don't have a choice at this point, my doctor will induce at 41+3. I'm just hoping this little one decides to make an appearance on his/her own in the next 3 days!

With my first I walked into the hospital to be induced at 40 weeks and 6 days. I needed cervadil and pitocin. I ended up with a c-section (which was SO disappointing). I actually wish I had waited a little longer, because maybe I wouldn't have ended up with a c-section. With my second, my water broke three weeks early ( which was horrible because we had plans for my mom to come and take care of my daughter while I had the baby which was a planned c-section) and I ended up with an emergency c-section. So, the biggest reason I wish I hadn't to be induced is because i didn't know at the time it would affect my other deliveries (we moved to a place where it is very difficult to find a doc who will do a VBAC). But, do what feels right! If you want to wait, wait! If you are ready, do it! Good luck :)

I haven't had my baby but I am already "scheduled" for an induction 3 day after my EDD. That is actually only because I am due on a Friday and my hospital only takes schedule inductions on Monday-Wed or else i'd ask to be induced that weekend! I am just....not enjoying pregnancy at all. Also, my insurance "turns over" 10 days after my due date so if I don't have im by then and have him out of the hospital by then, I have to pay my annual deductible of 2,500 again. So, I figure 40+3 is good....It's not like i'm being induced before my due date.

Anyways---are you progressing at all? Maybe wait it out if you are because it could mean you're going to go soon on your own. If you are not progressing at all, then you probably won't by Sunday and chances are in the long run you'd need assistance either way.
Best of luck to you! So exciting:)

I haven't had a baby yet, but I know several people who went a little ways past their due date and went into labor naturally. Come to think of it, I don't actually know of anyone who was induced only because of the due date-- it was always something else, like BP, fluid, etc, water breaking but labor not starting, etc.

My sister's midwives would have let her go 2 full weeks past the due date-- she went into labor on her own 10 days past.

On my due date I was dilated to a 5 but had not felt a single contraction or braxton hicks. I ended up being induced because of high bp, but I probably would have gone pretty late.

I had a very positive experience being induced, though. It wasn't nearly as terrifying as I thought.

I was at 39+2 with twins which isn't overdue, but past 39 weeks is considered by many to be past ideal term for twins. I was induced due to postmaturity concerns with my fluid levels and placentas.

I really wanted everything to happen naturally, but my induction went very smooth.

I was induced at 41 weeks 3 days. I hadn't made any progress on my own and DS was measuring huge. I wish I had gone into labor on my own, but DS was 10lbs 9oz, so I am glad he didn't have time to get any bigger.

I'm 41 weeks today, and have an induction scheduled for Sunday night (41 weeks, 3 days). My doctor had originally said she would let me go 1 week past due, so I'm lucky she's letting me have the 3 extra days.

Initially I thought that by 1 week late I'd be so ready to have this baby out of me that I'd want an induction, but now that I'm at this point I really want the baby to come on its own!

If you were past your due date, did labor start naturally, and if so, when? Or were you induced? I'm curious to hear everyone's stories!
