I actually was proposed to by an ex in a public setting - not as public as those, but at a restaurant. I said 'no' and then we left pretty quickly. I remember feeling like people were watching us, but luckily no one was all up in our face or making comments or anything. I later found out he had initially planned to do it outside of one of my classes (I was in college at the time) and I'm so glad that fell through. It was awkward enough as it was without being in front of all my classmates...

I am soooooo glad my husband knew better. I think I would have needed to say no just because if he thought that was a good idea he must not know me as well as he should!

It's terrible but I would probably end up saying yes to save from embarrassment and deal with the consequences later.

This reminds me of when I was 17 or so and I was dating a guy from school...we had been together maybe a year and he was more into it than me and asked if we would get engaged someday and I was like "um, yeah maybe" so as not to hurt his feelings and the next day I found out he had told everyone at school we were getting engaged and I was mortified! :(

Ahhh I had to stop watching, I hate feeling awkward for people--I just want to yell at them to STOP!

I'm not sure what I would do, most likely say yes because of the attention. But really, don't couples talk about these things before hand?

These make me so uncomfortable. I feel like the first one and last one are fake.

I would probably say yes in the moment to protect his feelings and the awkwardness of the public, but our relationship would definitely be over.

@Shutterbug: I thought #2 looked pretty real! #5 looks fake to me too. Her reaction just seems odd (like she doesn't look at all phased/surprised that her boyfriend and then she is called up on stage?)

And #1 is still hilarious lmao, even if it is fake! If it's fake now I don't even have to feel bad for the people in it! :P

If the guy proposing to me does not know that I don't like big public productions then I would say I'm not ready to marry him anyway!

This girl I know (HS kid) was asked out to prom in a public huge production way; she def said yes due to the peer pressure, and had to work up the courage to tell him afterwards she didn't want to! Good thing is she wasn't going with someone else; just wanted to go w/ her friends.

uuuuggh I get so uncomfortable watching awkward situations like this! #5 and #2 seemed a little fake, but the look on that guy's face in #3 :(

Also, even though it seems SO real, #1 was actually a hoax!

What would you do!? I just finished watching this video of "wedding fails" which includes multiple botched public proposals.

I think I'd probably react similarly to the women in clips 3 and 2... Something along the lines of "Can we talk about this later? I'm so sorry..." but maybe under that much pressure I'd say "yes" infront of the cameras and then talk to him as soon as we were in a private place. Glad DH didn't propose in such a public way!!

Bonus: The last clip gets me everytime I see it lol!
