TG, and I wanted a girl so bad. Mostly because it's been more likely that I'd get boys. I definitely want one girl, so I was really hoping to get it. I got a boy, and when it was announced after I had him, I didn't care what I had, and was just so happy that he was here and healthy. As much as I want my girl, I would take a whole family of boys over no family at all. I don't really care what my family looks like, as long as everyone's healthy!

I found out with the first (boy) and was so excited at the U/S and had a great time shopping, preparing a boy themed nursery etc.... But ideally I would like one of each sex (not pregnant yet) and I'm leaning towards going TG the second time around for the reasons you mentioned. I don't want to feel even a twinge of disappointment at the U/S! I know that once the baby is here I will be thrilled to have a baby. Plus it would be nice to have that element of surprise at the actual delivery.

I can't speak from personal experience but my friend has 4 kids. The first two are b/g twins and she has made it no secret that she wanted girls next. She found out as soon as she could what she was having for the next two b/c if it was a boy, she needed that time to get used to the idea. And yes, both were boys. I know this might make her sound awful but she said that she didn't want any gender disappointment to ruin the actual birth.

We were team green and while I didn't have a gender preference, everyone else did. DH, our son, my parents, MIL, siblings...everyone! I convinced DH to go green based on that same philosophy {who cares what it is, it's here and we're all so happy!}. It totally worked. Everyone wanted a girl and we had a boy. :silly:

@MamaMoose: Completely agree. When someone asked what I wanted {re: sex} I always answered, "healthy!"

Fear of disappointment was a big reason why we were originally team green. I do think that it would have been easier to find out we had a boy (for me) or a girl (for DH) once they were here.

That being said, we did find out at 22 weeks (girl!), and I don't think it's made it any harder on DH. And I was surprised at what a difference it made for me in feeling like we're really having a BABY. I'm not sure anymore whether I'd want to go TG on a second child. But I'm also not sure how much our relief that we weren't going to have to terminate like they led us to believe initially influenced that. I'm sure DH was less likely to be sad she's not a boy when he's just so happy she's alive.

I didn't have a gender preference but I know dh would have had a slight boy preference.

We were TG, ...As soon as she came out and he got to announce "it's a girl!!!" he was totally enamoured, ecstatic and didn't have an ounce of disappointment . He says he can't imagine her being a boy . There wasn't a second of sadness/worrying which I think he might have had had we found out at our 20w ultrasound.

He says he definitely wants to be team green again for lo2 for that same reason .

Fear of disappointment was one of the reasons we went TG. Ivdont know if I would have been disappointed, but I was afraid I might. But like @MamaMoose: I felt that the way to mitigate that would be to find out when meeting my baby for the first time!

I did not have a gender preference for the first so it was easy (haha, "easy"!) for me to be team green. But mostly only because Wagon Sr. really wanted to be surprised. I only agreed to it, really, because he agreed that with our second child we'd find out. So we did, and I'm glad we did! The weird thing is, I always wanted one of each, but when we found out LMW was a girl I kind of wished she was a boy so we could have two boys...! Of course now I'm so happy to have one of each.

I of course did not answer your question at all. Haha. Zo helpful. But I would think that the anticipation that comes with being Team Green would only make you super joyful no matter what when delivery day arrives? and towards the end you'll really feel like you won't care, just as long as the baby is happy and healthy? I know many people who have experienced gender disappointment after the 20 week ultrasound, but those I know who wanted one gender and got the other and were team green are mostly just relieved that it's all over and the baby is here.

We're "find out kind of people" and would love one of each. We have a lil boy now and of course would love a lil girl next. We will find out the sex when we're pregnant again. If it's another boy, I will be totally enamored with him. I love being a boy mommy!!! We will try for a 3rd then, and will be Team Green bc boy or girl, #3 will be our last! Given how hard it was for us to get pregnant the first time then to lose the baby, and be pregnant again, I'd be happy with either sex come #2! Happy and healthy is priority.

For me personally team green is the way to go. I know some people will be offended by this statement but I think it's pretty crappy if a person feels ANY sort of disappointment when they have a brand new healthy child placed in their arms. I have a girl and would love to have one of each, but I can't imagine looking at a brand new baby girl and having even a shred of disappointment that she wasn't a boy.

If you were Team Green and had a gender preference but got the other gender, do you think finding out the gender at delivery made it better because you had the baby right there and didn't care what it was at that point of did you wish you would have had some time to adjust?

Since we have two boys already, we would love to have a little girl someday. I know if we have a boy, that I'll be absolutely in love with him when he arrives and I wouldn't trade him for a million girls. But, I've been wandering if it's better to find out the gender at delivery and hope you're just so happy to meet your baby that you don't care or if it's better to have some time to mentally prepare.
