I was raised Catholic but my parents weren't stupid so I think they just preferred to feign ignorance.</p> <p>When I graduated college I was living in my first apartment with my boyfriend (now husband). When my extended family came for my graduation party, my mother asked me to hide his belongings so that my uber-conservative Catholic family wouldn't suspect that we were 'living in sin.' I had gone to the gyno and my dad is a pharmacist so he is the one who filled my BC (b/c I was on my parent's insurance that had other issues), so they knew that. About 2yrs later I was leaving my (new) boyfriend's (now husband) early in the morning after spending the night there and hit another car, so I had to call and tell my parents, since the car was theirs/on their insurance. Also, there were a few times when I would talk to my mom on the way to work where I would complain about not feeling well and she would inquire if I could be preggo. They were pretty relaxed.</p> <p>My in-laws however are strict catholics and HATED that we lived together. For the first three years we had a two bedroom so we could pretend he had his and I had mine, when in reality we slept together nightly. They were distraught that we got a hotel room for my SIL's wedding (pre marriage or engagement for us) together at the fear that a family member or friend may see us checking in or out of the hotel together. Mind you were were 27 and living together for 2 years at the time.
