I try to use one frozen bag per day and typically split it between two bottles and then top off with fresh milk from the day before. Without using some frozen milk everyday, I don't think I would cycle through my stash fast enough.

At first I was freezing a lot of it because I had an over supply. But once that was regulated a little more, I gave LO whatever I pumped the previous day. On Friday, I would get two bottles ready for Monday with fresh milk and stored them way back in the fridge. Any extra, I froze. By the time I was close to done pumping at work, I had a lot saved up that I ended up throwing away. But I am glad that I froze so much because I liked having a backup just in case my supply dropped.

Thawed freezer milk on Monday, fresh milk Tues-Friday. Then Friday's pumped milk goes into the freezer stash.

Monday's freezer milk would always be the oldest milk in the stash, to ensure we were rotating through it. And DH would place the dethawed bottle so it was the first one the daycare teachers grabbed, to ensure it got consumed within 24 hours.

@Truth Bombs: this!
@snowjewelz: I send fresh milk from the day before, like you said. For Monday's milk it's a combo of weekend pumped milk and usually a frozen from the stash. I have a tiny stash at any given time (maybe 25 oz?) and try to not let anything sit in the freezer longer than a month or so.

I WFH a few days a week, and go in to the office the rest of the time. I nurse on my WFH days, leave fresh pumped milk whenever I have it available, and pull from the freezer the rest of the time. I usually end up freezing my whole output on Friday and often on Tuesday too, just because that's how my schedule works.
I've posted a little about my supply dropping lately, so, at this point, even when I leave fresh milk, my nanny will sometimes have to unfreeze a bag to tide LO over at the end of the day. I'm cycling through my freezer supply pretty quickly because of that.

I made two bottles fresh and one from my oldest frozen bag, then froze the leftovers. I also numbered the bottles for daycare to make sure she drank the fresh two first and the frozen bottle would have time to fully dethaw.

It sort of depends on what's going on with my LO, but generally I freeze Friday's milk but re-thaw about 2/3 of it on Monday and combine with some older milk. Then Tues-Fri, he gets fresh milk mixed with a small amount of frozen milk as well (maybe 1-3 oz frozen). If he's sick though, I try to just give him all the most recent milk so he can get as many antibodies as I can give him.

I usually would provide fresh milk Tues-Fri, freeze Friday's milk, and provide older frozen on Monday. Fresh milk has the highest amount of antibodies/helpful living cells so I like to maximize it while also ensuring freezer stock is rotated. Also it's easier and uses less freezer bags to not freeze every day.

@Adira: Yeah, I think I'm gonna go back to doing it this way; it's easier! Sometimes I forget to take milk out to thaw!

@Truth Bombs: Good point! Well, right now she nurses mornings and nights too so she's really only eating twice out of frozen stash

@shabang: Ah, this combo way works too!

I would pull from oldest stash on Monday, give fresh pumped every other weekday, and then freeze Friday's pumped milk. That saved a few minutes in the mornings Tues - Fri because the milk was already bottled and a few more minutes in the evenings Mon - Thu because I didn't have to bag milk. Also, then there were a couple less bottles to wash daily and I needed to buy less freezer storage bags. (It's all about the extra minutes here...)

Breastmilk changes as kids get older. Giving a baby frozen milk here and there or to supplement is obviously totally fine. But I wouldn't want the majority of my child's milk in a day to be frozen from a previous period. I sent my kids with fresh milk every day, and even saved Friday's milk for Monday every week with no issue.

I tried to cycle through, but mostly give fresh milk. So on Monday, I would thaw the oldest milk in the freezer and give him that. Then Tuesday-Friday, he got the milk that was pumped from the day before. Then I'd free Friday's milk. Rinse and repeat!

Are you giving LO what you pumped today for the next day, and just taking from stash on Monday's? Or take from stash daily and freeze all new milk?

I think I did the first way with DD1, and now doing the second way with DD2... Because with DD1 I didn't have much of a stash but with DD2 I do.
