Then we'll tell him that some people (i.e. our nephew) believe that (insert Santa mythology story). I don't plan to say anything. There will be presents under the tree from mom and dad, and that will be that. If they ask about it, I'll just say that Santa is a fun thing people do to make the holidays feel magical or something like that. I feel no obligation to make my kid keep up the act for others, but I grew up not thinking Santa was real, but it wasn't a thing I ran around yelling either. I hope as long as I make Santa not a big deal or don't say "it's a lie lie lie" it won't be an issue my kids focus on... Just that he doesn't exist, or just not bringing it up at all? Will you tell them not to tell other kids he doesn't exist? </p> <p>I know all kids eventually catch on (I think I was 8?) but I'm curious how those of you who are not doing Santa will approach it. When I was growing up everyone I knew did the Santa thing, I knew that people of other religions obviously didn't do Santa but until HB I had no idea so many people didn't do it. And that's ok! I'm just curious since Santa is kind of everywhere, how you'll handle it around others who do go the Santa route. </p>
