Although I'm off for the summer,I keep my boys in daycare part time. They won't hold your spot if you take the summer off, plus mama gets some time to herself! We are joining the town pool and I'm so excited!!!

they will have the same schedule as they do now in daycare but will be home with me when little sister arrives in july. I will be looking for some day programs through churches/state parks to take them too when they are at home.

Combo of vacation, church program, family friend and 4 weeks of French montessori day camp. It was a struggle figuring out summer plans this year - I'm not back from maternity leave and I'm taking on some new projects when I'm back so deadlines were tricky to firm up.

Day camp - 5 days a week - the kids love it! Last year I kept them home on Fridays and they always complained that they wished they were at camp -so this year they are going all week. They swim 2 times a day and have mini golf, bounce houses, foam pits, sports, etc - Its a great camp!

Not sure what we'll do yet, but my son hasn't been in full time day care since he was 3, so we're kind of used to the shuffle.

We typically do camp for 3 hours and that's the extent of it. I leverage my parents as well.

For now, he'll go to the same daycare lady he does now! Which means, he'll stay with his brother.
Another option is the local YMCA has a super fun summer day program that's only just slightly more $ than daycare.

Right now, DH is teaching and has the summer off. So it all depends what his work situation is. He's looking for another job.

My 3 year old is in the nursery class at the local school and attends before and after school club there. The before and after school club run "holiday club" during the school holidays so we have been putting her in there when school is closed. The baby goes to a childminder so I might see if she can take E here and there during the holidays this summer so E gets a break from school!

My son will go back to his old daycare, which can take kids up to age 10. I'm happy because he will be with his sister (so it's very convenient for me!) and get 6 weeks of language immersion.

DH and I are both off work for the summer, but we are still sending DD to a summer camp for two weeks. It's just down the street and it's at a Montessori child care center in a park and I know she'll have fun. The weeks are themed and she is doing the science and cooking weeks. It'll also allow me to spend more time with the baby before I go back to work in September. We are also spending three weeks at the cottage.

My only child (so far) is 2, but I have anxiety about this. As a child, I went to daycare until my younger brother was school-aged as well, then we had a teenage babysitter at home. And we got into a lot of "trouble" (mostly harmless, but still mischief!).

Luckily our school district does after care and also offers summer camp. You book by the week, which I kind of like since we usually take a week long trip somewhere. I won't have to pay for that week. Each week is a different theme.

My kid is only two, but all the parents of school-age kids I work with end up booking them for back-to-back day camps throughout the entire summer. It sounds ridiculously complicated and expensive.

This summer I'm off for maternity leave (though I will have some help of a babysitter and some "camp" for the older boys at their current Montessori school). After this summer, we'll be adding a nanny back into the mix for probably the next 2 years anyways...so even though T will be in K (and R's school actually runs on school calendar) I'll have childcare coverage for summers. I'm guessing T will also start doing some "real" camps next summer.

What are you planning to do with your school aged kids during the summer?
