Mine dropped her nap before she turned 2. UGH. She'll be 3 in April.

She goes to bed at 7:30 and wakes up at 8:30, generally.

Oh, man.

DD is about 3 years, 6 months now. She's almost never napping, but even without it, she doesn't fall asleep until about 8:30-9:00. She usually wakes up around 8am, though, so I know it's a good night's sleep for her. If she naps, all bets are off! She took a 20 minute snooze the other day and was up until 1:00 am! DF was not pleased, hah.

Bedtime is usually around 8:30. When he's really tired, DS will crash before 8, but he really has to spend the whole day running outdoors... those days are few and far between.

@LuLu Mom: LOL that is too funny. My LO is very much a sleep fighter, but the TV makes her sleepy for some reason!

@NovBaby1112: My daughter is the QUEEN of fighting it, she will lay on me and as soon as she feels those eyes getting heavy BOOM she's up because she "needs to go potty, needs a drink, forgot her second blanket, ect....) anything to keep her awake.

My 3 year old hardly ever naps. Normal bed time is at 7:30/8. On the rare occasion he naps bedtime gets pushed back to at least 9 and usually closer to 10. :/ He gets up around 7 am.

@LuLu Mom: yea, I totally hear you on getting home and needing to rush to cook dinner, etc. It's hard those days. I sometimes will put a show on for M and have her lay on me, and she ends up actually falling asleep on me most days when she doesn't nap.

@NovBaby1112: I've tried it doesn't work, she's not tired enough to actually laydown. I can usually get her to lay with me or DH around 7 if we put a show on the TV, but I hate doing TV before bed because I feel like it stimulates her more than a book, but a book doesn't keep her laying still. But by the time we get dinner, bath, ect. done it's already after 7, we both work out of home so we don't get home until 5:30-5:45.

@ValentineMommy: wow, your son sleeps a lot!! M has never slept too much (low to normal sleep needs) and has dropped her naps at an earlier age, so I kinda knew we'd be on this path earlier than most :silly:

@Mrs. Twine: that sounds like a good schedule! my LO really needs 12-13 hours a day, hence the early bedtime and the fact we need to go to daycare in the am, but hoping as she gets older maybe 7pm would work.

@LuLu Mom: have you tried putting her to bed extra early on the no nap days? My LO would be a hot mess if we kept her up until 7:30/8 if she didn't nap.

@sandy: I would love to try the quiet time thing, but they don't really enforce that at daycare. on the weekends we def just relax in bed for an hour or so.

I say if she's tired and falls asleep at 6:00 then it's fine.

My 3 year old rarely naps now. She has 1.5 hours of quiet time in her bed though. Lights out at 7:00 on no nap days and she sleeps until 7:30/8:00. When she does nap we put her to bed at 8:00 but she doesn't fall asleep until 9:00

Sigh our almost 28 month old likes to skip naps as well, and this makes for a crappy night. We try to get her down at 7:30-8 on these nights, but in reality it's harder to get her to sleep because she's' overly tired, she usually goes down 8:30-9. We have a battle at every bedtime regardless of she naps or not, it takes a good 45 minutes to get her to fall asleep.

Lorelei dropped her nap at 21 months. Like, no more naps ever. For good. Ellie dropped at about 28 months. She would still nap maybe once a week until she was 3. Both had a wake up around 7:30 am and bedtime around 7pm. Ellie's bedtime was shifted back a little when it was clear she wasn't actually going to go to sleep that early, so closer to 8pm. Right now Lorelei is 34 months and wakes at 7:30am and goes to bed at 7:30pm. We don't have to wake them up in the morning for anything, so if they need extra sleep they can just "sleep-in."

Yikes - this literally terrifies me!

My son will be 2 next week and still naps for 2-3 hours every day. WITH his nap, he goes down at 7:30pm and sleeps until 8am. I can't imagine what time I'd have to put him down without it.

@hilsy85: hahah I used to think the same thing, but I actually don't mind it! It's easier to do things now, instead of having to schedule everything around her nap. Granted, some days she does still nap, so its tough to plan, but I think we are headed down the no nap route....hope it is a long ways off for you tho!

@looch: nice! M is still pretty young I think, but we'll see how it plays out...

@Bao: ok, so about 12-13 hours total? M was sleeping 12-13 total with her nap, so that's why I put her down so early, bc we NEED to be up by 7/7:30 for daycare each day. I hate getting so little time with her in the evening though

My son dropped his nap late, he was 3 years 9 months. He was taking a long time to fall alseep at night, so it was time, now that I look back.

We currently aim to have him in bed by 7:30. He falls asleep within minutes now and sleeps through 6 when we wake him on the weekdays. On the weekend, he's slept until 7!

What time is bedtime and what time do they wake up? For a few weeks now M (26 mo) will only nap maybe once or twice a week. On days she naps, bedtime is 8 ish. But on days she doesn't nap, I try to put her down at 6, but it seems so early!
