My kids didn't really warm up to food until close to a year. I tried EVERYTHING. Ultimately it was just the combination of better sleep, less milk, and age. I had to just chill about it. Finger foods do work best for them though, they hate the spoon/purees. And using flavors and seasoning helped too, bland stuff doesn't fly :) good luck and don't sweat it mama! You're doing a great job.

My mom is a feeding expert, most of her clinical work is with kids that are FTT or have health issues that make eating difficult. She says that patience and persistence is her mantra. Keep offering different foods, offer encouragement and praise when he shows an interest in a food and continue offering foods he doesn't. It might take thirty tries to get him to eat green beans, it might take eighty, but he will get there.
You are doing a great job.

@Mrs Green Grass: i hear you, it is rough to see pictures of babies eating 3 course meals while yours bats away even a spoonof pear puree. I was so sure i was doing it all wrong, but then it just changed slowly but surely. There was mo a-ha moment though, she just ate a bit more of the mixed stuff every time.

@Mrs Green Grass: your question is so timely because i've been wondering this myself. when we first introduced solids (purees and BLW) he was really into it, but his interest has slowed down a lot. so thanks for posting, as it was helpful to see these responses!

@plantains: thanks for this tip--LO hardly touched any of the homemade zucchini puree i made for him at daycare today  so for tomorrow i'm going to mix in some pea puree, which i know he likes. hope it works!

@plantains: I'm not really stressing...just want to hear that it's normal and will eventually work.

@littlek: sometimes I do...he almost seems less likely to take it if it's too liquidy. I use it in the purees though too.

@Mrs Green Grass: B did not like solids at first, we started him off with solids. We had to keep offering them to him. We started with oatmeal and bananas. ARe you adding breastmilk/formula in to the solids? I'm not sure if that will make a difference....

@Mrs Green Grass: my DD was just like yours, and until I started mixing things together she didn't really take to the solids. The first big hit was mixing avocado with pears. After that I realised that avocado pureed with most fruits were good. I cooked the pears to make them less grainy. I don't think you should stress, just keep offering at set times. My DD eats like a champ now, although she still love yoghurt above all else.

I find that sometimes LO has to adjust to new flavors. So the first time I offer her something new I mix in something I know she likes. Pears are her favorite... kid goes crazy for pears.

DS1 wasn't eating solids regular til 15-16 months. He had no interest so we didn't push it. We offered different foods a lot and let him eat it if/when he wanted.

BLW. We figured out she just pretty much wanted to be in control. And also like @chopsuey said it was about finding something she liked. Peaches, in our case.

We're at 9.5 months now and she's finally up to having 2-3 meals a day, every day.

F didn't like solids at first (6 months), so I only offered little amounts every so often and in a few weeks (maybe 3-4?) he was gobbling it down!

DD wasn't a solids fan.
I just let her try a lot of different things until I found something she liked. Then I offered what she liked + some new stuff.
I tried not to stress out about it since I knew breast milk was enough for her first year of life.
She slowly started eating better and she's a good eater now. Still a little picky, but will try pretty much everything once.

My lo is a little over 6 months adjusted and we've been working on solids for about a month. So far, the only thing that he has kind of liked it gnawing on melons (watermelon, honeydew) as well as bread. He has hated banana, avocado, mango, sweet potato. He kind of tolerated butternut squash.

All I see is pictures of little ones devouring their food and loving it! If your lo was slow to like solids, what eventually worked for you?
