As soon as we picked her up she'd burp a HUGE burp and go right back to sleep. Now that she sleeps on her side or tummy we don't. DD will usually wake up because of the gas. DH didn't know this and made the mistake once of burping her, so she woke up screaming then couldn't get her back to sleep, he had to come get me. Never again. Usually if she was asleep enough for me to move to put her down, burping her wouldn't wake her up. If she woke up during burping, she'd wake up during the transition to her bed anyway. Plus, she usually spits up if not burped and that wakes her up anyway.
