DS hated his infant seat - I think bc he had reflux and the bucket seat is apparently bad for that - but was able to tolerate the car so much better when we switched to a convertible. We switched him pretty early -- around 7-8 months. The car is the only place we use a pacifier as it seems to help her. I always wondered if he might have just been getting carsick or something, especially since he had terrible reflux, but honestly, it just took time. We were lucky that he seemed to calm down around 7 or 6 months, but before that, he would just scream and scream. I planned on switching him early too, for exactly that reason, but never got around to it. His tolerance for the car seat got better and better, as he was able to entertain himself with toys. Even after I switched him to the convertible he still fussed in the car if our trip was too long. somewhere between 18 months and two a switch flipped and he became a great rider, but it was rough going in those early days. Hates it in the car, hates it in the stroller...he even starts crying immediately when I put him in it in the house! I've tried moving the straps up &amp; down, loosening, tightening, taking padding out, putting it back in, adding toys on the handle, putting a mirror up...nothing is working. I've read that some peoples babies have hated their infant bucket seat but loved their convertible car seat. I've been considering making the switch soon if it will make car rides more tolerable. Has anyone gone through this? I'd love some advice! </p>
