At first I tried putting him in his cradle or pack n' play but naps were always super short. Around 6 months I just refused to hold him for naps and always put him in the crib. Naps were really short at first 15-30 minutes but eventually stretched out up to 2 hours. It took some time but the key was just being consistent and eventually he figured it out. Around 4 weeks or so she would only nap while being held, and the second I tried to put her down, she'd wake up. She did this for a couple weeks. I got a ton of TV watching accomplished. :P </p> <p>Then one day, I put her down, and she didn't wake up. From then on we had the opposite problem. I could never do cry it out so this method worked for my family and we are happy with the results so far. From there, she moved to napping in her crib at 16 weeks. But swing was always the backup....she napped her 50% of the time.</p> <p>There was no method to our transition. We had a little chair (almost like a bouncer) that vibrated, and he slept almost exclusively in that thing for weeks. I think he liked the incline too.
