He is three and doesn't consistently sleep through the night, but has had some weeks or even months when he did and then stopped again. He was really bad in the fall with multiple wake ups a night. Since then he's been hit or miss. He might wake up once, twice or not at all. Sigh... Someday I will sleep again... My 5 month old used to sleep through the night and now is back to waking up twice. I hope he is a better sleeper in the future than his brother.</p> <p>ETA: we did sleep train my oldest at 9 months and it was brutal. For like 6+ months before that she was doing 1 wakeup most days between 2-5 and I could sometimes just give her a paci but often had to rock her back to sleep and set her down. Then one day she decided she didn't want to be rocked anymore. Literally out of nowhere, after rocking her to sleep basically every day of her life. She'd be obviously tired but would just cry and try to noodle off my lap. So for like 3 days in a row during her wakeup I'd try to rock her, she'd noodle, and I'd just put her back in her crib and walk away. it sucked because I had no intention of sleep training but if she wouldn't let me help her sleep, and its 2am... I really didn't know what else to do. She cried on/off for like 45 min the first night. The second night was like 20. The third night was like 10. However within last two weeks (after a bad stretch of multiple times a night bc teething) she's now only getting up once and almost always between 9:30-10:30 (she goes to bed around 6) so she is basically sleeping through MY night so I will take that! Trade off though because she also is waking up earlier.</p> <p>ETA: for me the real game changer has been going down from two+ to just one wake up compared to one wake up to none. Sleeping through the night is great but even if she doesn't get up I'm usually up at some point anyway. .
