I don't normally give Tylenol unless its over 100 and baby looks miserable. But if he's miserable at 99.5, I'd try to give him some... Hope he feels better!

@TurtleDoves: Sorry to hear your LO is sick! I hope he feels better soon! I don't really have a suggestion on how to make him feel better, aside from what the other ladies have already suggested. *Big hugs*

@TurtleDoves: I think Id just give Tylenol to bring the temp down and help with the sore throat. Humidifier, nosefrida, saline, baby rub. My LO luckily hasn't been sick yet so I can't say I'm speaking from experience but those are the things I have ready to go. Hugs! Hope he's feeling better soon!

@Turtledoves: Sorry that he's been so miserable! That's so hard to watch. Sounds like you did the right thing with the Tylenol. I hope your night is uneventful!

@wheres_c: it's very low. Like, enough to make him feel miserable but not sick enough for the doctor's visit. It's that awkward place where basically I have to try a bunch of natural remedies (hit bath, saline spray, cold compress..)

@MrsF: he's sweating bullets...it's weird. But, we have half a dose of Tylenol and he went to sleep. Fingers crossed that tonight won't be too crazy!

Tylenol and try to keep a cold cloth on her head. But obviously that's not easy.

If it doesn't get any higher I wouldn't worry about it. Assuming it's accurate 99.5 wouldn't be considered a fever. Does he feel very warm to you?

I would just give tylenol also. are you taking a rectal temp or ear temp? sometimes ear can be a little off and rectal is more accurate.

If P is really cranky I'll give her Tylenol even if she doesn't have a temp (it's also a pain reliever)... for temp only I rarely give it.

Lots of hugs, lots of rocking in the rocking chair holding her against my chest, cool teether if it's related to teething, lots of gentle back rubs and joint rubs.

Personally, I wouldn't do anything about the fever itself. It's your body's way of killing off infection, and as long as it's not dangerously high it's actually a good thing.

As for making him feel better, not really sure beyond lots of cuddles and maybe something cool or extra warm (not hot) to try and sooth his throat? Or maybe a shower with him to let the steam help with coughing.

Lots of hugs for you both and fingers crossed it will pass quickly!

What would you do to make them feel better?

When we went in this morning, the doctor said unless it hits 100, not to go in. He made sure LOs ears and chest were ok. Said he has a cold and it is all upper respiratory and not to worry. He recommended to keep baby's nose clear with saline and the respirator. He said los sore throat was probably causing the pain & crying. Other than that....nothing. I wonder what to do to help us get through this tear free?
He is miserable! Crying and whining all day with a bad cough and runny nose.

Eta: temp was 97.9 at pediatrician's office and *now* (6h later) it is 99.5.
