I'm a boy mom. It's hard picturing myself as a girl mom if that's what our second will be. I'm not necessarily itching for a girl either. I don't like the stigma that my MIL had about not having girls. As a boy mom, I just don't feel the same way she did about it. Sure, there's girly stuff, but I'm okay if I don't get to experience that. I don't want to keep having kids in hopes of having a girl. I'm fine with the eventual 2 we'll have boy/boy or boy/girl. It's cool with me.

When I first found out I was having a boy I was a little worried because I had no idea what I would do with a boy. I could picture what it would be like to be a mom to a girl because I am a girl. But now I've learned that for a long time, gender is pretty inconsequential. I don't need to worry for a long time about him being into all this boy stuff that I don't get. I'm fairly girly - I don't like camping, HATE bugs and trucks, etc. Babies like what babies like regardless of whether they're a boy or a girl.

I'd still like a girl one day so I can have that whole mother/daughter relationship with my own daughter. Someone to go get pedicures with or shop with, someone to buy tons of pink stuff for, and so on. But I know with my son that we will find our own stuff to connect over. And if we have another boy, I will absolutely love seeing DS and his brother together. Plus, I love have a mini DH, so even more matching (matching the boys outfits, matching to DH) would give me cuteness overload. And yes, I am *that* mom, lol.

I have never pictured myself as a boy mom. I always imagined myself with two daughters. Even though I have one of each now, sometimes it's still hard to imagine parenting a boy!! I am so at ease with girls because we have a ton of women in the family.

I was terrified of having a boy because I'm really girly and have no idea what I'd do with a boy. My stepson is really into sports and cars and trucks and I always feel so clueless when I play with him. He loves talking to DH about different sports and I never have anything to contribute to the conversation other than that I like their uniform :silly:

Pregnant with my second girl, and definitely cannot imagine having a boy. I have two nephews which has helped me at least get used to little boys, because my extended family was an all-girl family!

Selfishly I want my 3rd to be another girl, but I mostly hope for #3 to be boy for DH who really wants a son. It would be weird at first though!

Great thread!

When pg with #2 I had to really wrap my head around the potential of a boy. #1 a girl and couldn't imagine anything else and was also scared/intimidated of having a boy! I knew we'd find our way, but I just couldn't see how Id connect, and whatnot!

I feel a zillion times more connected (so far!) and crazy over our boy (he's a month now) and I don't feel a bit guilty because our daughter is a total daddy's girl and this guy can totally momma's boy it up on me, crazy in love!

Such a different, amazing connection, despite so much love for both! If we were to have more kids I seriously would want to legitimately team green it because both genders are so amazing and I don't think I could honestly say a preference!

Sometimes, yes, but not really because my lo isn't old enough that gender has really become an issue. For all I know she could be transgender. But as far as the getting peed on and the circumcision stuff and the "typical" boy stuff...I haven't even thought much about it because I don't have a boy! Wouldn't mind a boy next though! :)

I can imagine being a girl mom and it doesn't seem foreign or anything but I have always wanted a son. All my baby dolls growing up were boys and I was reading so much Calvin and Hobbes when I was pregnant. I guess I always pictured myself with a little boy first. Now I am picturing a girl for the second but we will see. I love little boys so much so either way it would be such a blessing.

Yes! I have two girls now and the idea of having a boy seems so foreign to me! I feel like I have no idea what I would do with him - no idea how to dress him, no idea what toys he'd be into etc. I've got this girl thing down pat (for now, will be a completely different story when they're adolescents!) and having a boy terrifies me!

That being said, if we have a third, I hope it is a boy!

Totally. I was team green and convinced c was a boy the whole time. Now I cannot believe I ever thought she was a boy and just can't imagine having a boy!
