First was an induction at 41+4( but I think my water was leaking when I checked in the hospital) and then my second was a castor oil baby at 41+1. I honestly can’t say enough good things about castor oil! I know that sounds crazy but for me it worked so well and very minimal side effects. I only took 2 tablespoons an hour apart. I think most women take way too much. I took it around 2:00pm, started contractions around 5:00 pm, water broke at 10:00pm and gave birth at 1:43 am. Compared to my unmedicated pitocin induction, it was a breeze!

@DesertDreams88: It's awesome that it worked out well!

@LCTBQE: Yes, got it - I definitely get the worst pen pal distinction...

If I could choose (hah, hah) I think coming right around the due date, or just a little bit early, would be perfect. Rather than a week plus late 😂 Both for logistical reasons and for the sake of ending the pregnancy discomfort! But if given the choice I'll probably wait for it to happen naturally, just because natural labor went pretty smoothly last time...

@periwinklebee: for my 2nd pregnancy with gestational thrombocytopenia, we did biweekly blood draws 28-34 wks then weekly ones, since getting an epi or spinal was important to me. Steroid treatment was a possibility, again to ensure the choice of an epi. They wanted to induce at 39-40 weeks. Luckily, my platelets were about 100K at 39 weeks when I went into labor naturally, and I got the BEST epidural.

@periwinklebee: yes did you get my email? no rush, I'm the worst pen pal on earth. so yeah I had written out this whole thing gushing about how awesome my due-date induction with the girl was until I remembered about your platelets and deleted the entire thing :) are you interested in getting her out sooner rather than later if it's possible, or would you rather wait and let her come naturally?

@LCTBQE: Probably not, my platelets were already below normal at the 28 week blood draw, but it's the sort of thing where it just depends whether it's below the hospital cutoff when you show up in labor. Last time it wasn't so bad because thankfully labor was fast, but I would not want to do Pitocin without an epidural! Still have to talk to the doctor about whether they will want to induce earlier this time since I'm now AMA, which I know is a policy at some practices...

I have been meaning for awhile to send you a much longer update, hope things are going well and I will write more soon!!!

First baby was 40+2, spontaneous
Second was 40+10, and I had to be induced, but I was having pretty regular contractions when I arrived for the induction so it went very smoothly, and they didn't even use pitocin.

Lo1 was 41+2, induced, took 24 hours

Lo2 was 39 weeks on the dot, 19 hours but really more like 12 hours

I think nursing while pregnant and an aggressive cervical check did the trick 🤷‍♀️😎

First was 40+5 and labor started spontaneously. Second was 40+7 and labor started with broken water but I needed pitocin to get contractions going/regular.

LO2: 38+4
LO3&4 (twins): 36+2

I was so expecting to be late again that at first I didn’t believe that it was the real deal with LO2. All three labors started naturally

My first labor started at 40+2. My second didn't come until 40+6. The waiting was horrible but then my active labor was only 4 hours so that made it worth it.

My midwife said it's about 50\50 in their practice that your second will be later than your first
