My insurance gives me one for each birth, so I got one in Jan 2014 and one in Feb 2015. I like having two so I can have one at home and one at work.

@catomd00: Same here. I plan on getting a new one so I can leave one at work and one at home. So all I have to lug back and forth is the bottles/milk.

Insurance told me I can get a new one every year, no questions asked or documentation required. They only offered the Ameda Purely Yours, which sucked. Well, actually it didn't suck that well. I purchased the Ameda PISA, and will just buy new tubing and accessories for any subsequent children.

I had new insurance for baby 2 that paid for a pump so I got another one (paid for first, ins didn't cover), but like having two just in case. I leave an extra one in my office.

@jh524: I'm eligible for one for any pregnancy. I didn't get one for this baby even though I pumped for awhile because I never planned to pump long term and by the time I made a final decision not to bf and to pump short term I needed it sooner than insurance could get it. But if I ever have another I'll have my ducks in a row for insurance to pay for it.

@ElbieKay: @catomd00: I think the one everyone hated did not have the two phase let down thing, while some insurance Pisa ones (mine included) do have the two phase thing. So if yours had a letdown phase it wasn't the discontinued one.

I only qualify for a new one every 3 years. And if all goes as planned, we won't have a 3 year gap. So I won't qualify for a new one.

I bought a pump for LO1 (right before insurance started covering them). When I had LO2, I ordered a new pump, but kept it sealed in the box. I ended up not needed it, so I donated it to a charity that helps at risk pregnant women.

I gave my insurance pump away after I was done with it because it was completely useless. It was one of those Medelas that everyone says barely work. I'm pretty bitter about it. What a stupid law. What is the point of distributing crappy ineffective pumps? I got more milk from hand expressing.

Last time I also had a long term loan of a hospital grade pump from my best friend. If I get pregnant again, I will definitely get another hospital grade pump somehow because it was the only thing that worked for me.

Pumping is so hard and such a pain. I am definitely spending money if it will take the edge off the misery!!!

I didn't realize that my plan didn't cover another breast pump for 36 months--and my kids are 16 months apart--so I ordered another pump and then got a bill for $250  Luckily for me, the supplier let me return the pump because they said they normally wouldn't send me one without it being covered.

My plan does cover new breast pump parts every year, although I'm not sure what the parts entail.

Depending on the plan, you might qualify for one for every pregnancy or every x months (mine is 36 months) but I've changed plans anyway so I can get another one. In getting a manual to supplement the double electric. But I don't pump very often.
