We just started on Sunday night and it has been pretty good with only one hiccup (the first day of naps together was a fail for LO 2 and she slept in her old room) so far. We have a twin bed and crib in the room for my 3 and 2 year old. They are on the same schedule for naps and night sleep and they seem to enjoy room sharing right now!

We intentionally have the kids share (they're 2 years apart), even though we have a spare room. When we stagger bedtimes it works out really well. We'll put #2 down first around 8 pm, then put #1 down at 9:30 pm.

However, when we put them down at the same time... they'll play and keep each other up! It has its pros and cons... con being... they're not sleeping when they should be! But pro is that it's so fun watching them play together, read side by side, etc in the room without any intervention from us. Sometimes they'll eventually fall asleep on their own, other times we'll have to go in repeatedly to get them to sleep.

There is definitely a transition period, but overall we like having them share a room, and like anything else it takes some adjusting. They don't wake each other up in the MOTN, but they do wake up at the same time every morning bc one of them will wake the other up when they're ready for the day to get started.

The twins have always shared a room, so I'm not sure if they are a good example. I just chimed into say that I think most kids will learn to tune each other out. The thing that sucks for us is nap time, so one naps in the baby's room while the baby naps in our room or in the living room.

They share and I hate it!!

They're 22 months apart, and continually wake each other up. I have to put my 3.5 year old to bed first, then rock my 1.5 year old to sleep in a different room.

@regberadaisy: Do you have 3+ bedrooms though? I mean if we had extra we would give them their own rooms too, for sure!

We had the baby "move in" at 8 months. So we just had a crib and the older one was on a floor bed. For night it was fine- put the baby down then the older one would sneak in. For naps I just had one of them in our bedroom. Since we moved when the little one was 16 months they have both been on floor beds. We initially had them in an L shape but the little guy would end up crying looking for his brother/us, so then we pushed them together and it has worked really well.

Dd1 is 3 right now and bedtime is a 2 hour battle. So hell to the no. They're just across the hall and she is waking baby sister up every night after I just got dd2 to sleep.

our daughter and son share a room, they are 2.5 years apart. the baby stayed in our room the first 3 months. then we moved him into her room. (before he was born we transitioned her into a toddler bed, but left the crib up for the few months it wasn't being occupied). bedtimes were staggered at first. baby went to sleep first then our daughter. in the very beginning the baby would wake her up but then she learned to tune in him out. And same with baby tuning her out. now he's 16 months old and they go to bed at same time. I love it! The only tricky part is nap times. Usually we put our daughter in our room for naps. we are moving into a new home soon (with more bedrooms) and my daughter begs us to let her brother stay in her room when we move.

We have a 2/2. I had a crib and twin in one room and DS wanted to sleep in the crib and not the bed. As soon as I moved the crib out he slept in the bed with no problems. So it didn't work for is, although I still hope it does at some point!

My LO's are 20 mo apart and share a room. We waited until my youngest was 12 mo to put them together so not too many MOTN wake ups. It took a little adjusting but they are doing fine with it! They usually sleep through the others wake ups. We have a guest room so if it wasn't working I'd move her, but I like having a spare room for guests.

It worked for awhile (DS and DD shared from the time DD was 6 weeks to 10 months). Honestly, if it had been a bigger bedroom, the set up could have worked (although, horrible house with a billion problems so we needed to move).

DS didn't wake easily though. Most nights I would take DD into my bed when she would wake up. DS loved sharing a bedroom (from 3-4)!

Hoping people chime in. We are in a 2 bedroom condo right now and will have two LOs here for at least a year, probably. Right now we plan for the baby to stay in our room until her/his sleep is getting better.

We have two bedrooms and a loft that could be used as a bedroom. If anything we'd move upstairs. The way we plan to do things is the kids will share, but if one of them or both aren't sleeping well, we will sleep in the bed in the loft and one will sleep in their room, one in our room. Lo2 isn't here yet though!

Following. I would love for the girls to share and have a guest room. I probably won't do it until LO2 is out of her crib, though.

BTW in your situation I would totally have them share, I hate the idea of not being on the same level as my kids in case of emergency.

How is it set up?
Do they sleep ok?

My girls are 2.5 and 3 months. A couple homes we have checked out have two bedrooms down, one up. If we went with a house like that im debating having them share til im comfortable with my toddler upstairs.
