Right now D still gets a bottle, but I really want to get him off of that. I have tried offering a straw cup of milk or a smoothie, and he just lays there and screams until he gets the bottle. Punk. But yes, he absolutely needs something before going to daycare.

ETA: I mean that MY SON absolutely needs something. Not saying you should or should not feed your LO. Just to clarify.

I give her milk and sometimes she wants something so I will give her a cutie or a banana or a breakfast bar to munch on.

DD eats something right when she wakes up or else she isn't a happy camper. Some days it's a little bit and sometimes it's a whole meal. Depending on how much she eats in the morning, she'll eat breakfast at daycare too. There is about a 1 - 1 1/2 time lapse between wake up and daycare.

My LO is more interested in drinking milk than in eating when he wakes up. He wakes up and drinks a cup of milk {in his crib} while I finish getting everything ready. He eats his breakfast at daycare about 60-70 minutes from the time he woke up.

I usually give him a bottle of milk in the car. If he wakes up way earlier than normal (like once a week) I give him a half a banana or an applesauce pouch or something like that at home.

@MamaJ: Haha, yes! There was a thread awhile ago about the first thing your LOs say to you in the morning, and everyone was saying such cute things... L just says 'EAT!!" while doing the sign. Priorities!

@MamaMoose: We bought some of those for DS once and he loved them. Good idea. I will get more!

@swurlygurl: DS is the same way. He does the sign for "eat" in his crib before I get him out! I give him milk while I make breakfast but he is usually at my feet begging for food.

we get up pretty early (long commutes) so LO does have something around 5.30 or 6am before leaving the house--usually a big handful of fruit and a couple of mini waffles (really mini). then he eats breakfast again around 9 or 9.30am at daycare.

we have to give him milk right away in the mornings though--he is not happy until he downs a few ounces.

L eats breakfast at daycare, but NEEDS something before then (she starts crying for food as soon as she wakes up, crazy baby), so she eats 2 eggs and a smoothie before going to daycare. Then daycare gives out breakfast there an hour later and she eats most of it. However, I've never seen a child eat so much - I don't know how normal she is in that regard. Some days we eat the same amount of food :meh:

Nope! DS is usually still really sleepy when I get him ready in the morning and sleeps on the drive to school. He'll get his first bottle at school and breakfast later that moring. We get to school betwen 6:30 and 6:45.

Nope. I don't have time. Like this morning, I had to wake her up, change her and we were in the car. She seems fine.

I still nurse in the mornings so he's never quite with an empty stomach. Once we're done nursing I'll still give him his sippy cup of milk though. (My LO is 13m).

Do you give them something small at home first?

DS will start eating breakfast at daycare Monday. I am not sure if I should give him a small snack? If so what? Daycare is only 5 mins away, but Th/F. MIL will watch him and its a good 30 mins away. I really don't want him eating in the car either.
